Alby-Yerdy Temple
The Alby-Yerdy ( inh, Альби-Ерды; ka, ალბი-ერდი) are the ruins of the medieval temple in Ingushetia, located on the left bank of the Assa River. As a result of a radiocarbon study, scientists date the architectural monument to 668-974. Following the opinion of most researchers, the temple is recognized as a Christian church, although numerous remains of sacrificial animals were found inside the church, indicating rituals of ancient Ingush religion. Vainakh Religion
The Vainakh people of the North Caucasus (Chechens and Ingush) were Islamised comparatively late, during the early modern period, and Amjad Jaimoukha (2005) proposes to reconstruct some of the elements of their pre-Islamic religion and mythology, including traces of ancestor worship and funerary cults. The Nakh peoples, like many other peoples of the North Caucasus such as Circassians and Ossetians, practised tree worship, and believed that trees were the abodes of spirits. Assa (river)
The Assa (Tsirtslovn-Tskhali, russian: Асса, Цирцловн-Цхали, ka, ასა, ce, Iaьса-хи, inh, Эса-хий) is a right tributary of the Sunzha in Georgia and Russia. It is located in Dusheti Municipality of Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Georgia; and in Dzheyrakhsky and Sunzhensky Districts of Ingushetia and in Sunzhensky and Achkhoy-Martanovsky Districts of Chechnya, Russia. Tkhaba-Yerdy
Tkhaba-Yerdy (Ingush: ТкъобIa–Ерды; russian: Храм Тхаба–Ерды; ka, ტყობა-ერდი) is the ruins of the largest medieval Christian church in Ingushetia, Russian Federation. It is located deep in the Assin Gorge between the auls of Khairakh and Puy, Dzheyrakhsky District, near the border with Georgia. The monument is protected by the State as part of the Dzheirakh-Assin historical and architectural museum and nature reserve.
