Electoral District Of Leichhardt (Queensland)
Leichhardt was an Queensland Legislative Assembly electoral districts, electoral district of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland, Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland from 1860 to 1932. Taking in areas of central Queensland west of the Great Dividing Range, the district in its original form stretched as far as Mackay, Queensland, Mackay in the north and as far south as Taroom, Queensland, Taroom. Originally a dual member constituency, it was one of the sixteen districts contested at the 1860 Queensland colonial election, first colonial election in 1860. It became a single member constituency in 1873 but reverted to being a dual member electorate in 1878. A single member constituency again in 1888, it remained that way thereafter. John MacFarlane (Queensland Politician)
John MacFarlane (1823 – 10 April 1880) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography MacFarlane was born in Glasgow, Scotland, the son of David Macfarlane and his wife Margaret (née Gibb). He arrived in Victoria around 1840 where he engaged in Squatting pursuits. In 1865 he moved to Queensland and as a member of a Victorian firm, took up Oakey Creek run on the Mackenzie River in Central Queensland. Like most stations in the area it proved unsuitable for sheep and after four years he moved to Rockhampton where he established a successful stock and station agent. Charles Dutton (politician)
Charles Boydell Dutton (16 August 1834 – 5 February 1904), was pastoralist and politician in colonial Queensland. Early life Dutton was born in Singleton, New South Wales, the son of Henry Pelerin Dutton (c. 1803 – 30 January 1870), a Hunter River squatter, and his wife Sophia Hume Dutton, ''née'' Bell (c. 1804 – 18 August 1889). Politics Dutton was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly for Leichhardt from 23 August 1883 to 5 May 1888 and Secretary for Lands from 13 November 1883 to 30 August 1887; Secretary for Works and Mines from the latter date till 12 December 1887; and from that date till 13 June 1888 Secretary for Railways in the First Griffith Ministry. John Scott (20 June 1821 – 2 July 1898) was a grazier, company director and politician in colonial Queensland. Scott was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, the son of John Scott and his wife Marion Purves. John Scott ''junior's'' wife was Agnes Thomson who died in July 1892. Business life Scott was educated at St Andrew's University and Edinburgh University, where he studied medicine. He arrived in New South Wales in 1843. For a time he was a squatter in Goulburn, New South Wales. Between 1851 and 1852 he was in the United Kingdom. He went to Queensland in 1855. He stocked Palm-Tree Creek, Dawson which he sold in 1865 but acquired further stations. Scott was a director of City Mutual Life Assurance Society and vice president of The Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland. Eschau is a market community in the Miltenberg district in the ''Regierungsbezirk'' of Lower Franconia (''Unterfranken'') in Bavaria, Germany. It has a population of around 3,800. The Legislative Assembly of Queensland is the sole chamber of the unicameral Parliament of Queensland established under the Constitution of Queensland. Elections are held every four years and are done by full preferential voting.
