Alberto Y Los Trios Paraguayos
Alberto y Los Trios Paraguayos was a trio from Paraguay formed by Luis Alberto del Paraná, with Digno García (1919–1984) and Agustín Barboza. They toured the UK in the late 1950s and early 1960s, and released a number of UK records in the 1960s, on Philips Records in Europe and Epic Records in the United States. In expanded form beyond trio the group included performers of the accordion, orchestral harp, as well as guitars. The band leader, del Paraná, died in England in 1974. Luis Alberto Del Paraná
Luis Alberto del Paraná (21 June 1926 – 15 September 1974) was a Paraguayan singer and guitarist. During the fifties, sixties and early seventies, he traveled extensively around the globe with his group Los Paraguayos, popularizing Paraguayan music. He is the best-selling Paraguayan musician ever. Family and early life He was born on 21 June 1926 at 14:30 in Altos, Paraguay. His birth was reported in the magistrates court on 14 August 1926 by his mother, Jacinta Mesa (not Meza). His name was Luis Osmer Meza. Luis was the fourth son of eight children, of whom one was a girl, Obdulia (Chiquita), a retired singer. Doña Jacinta, Paraná's mother died on 15 August 1965, while Luis was in Stockholm touring in Europe; Luis's father, who was a rural teacher, died in Piripucú, Concepción in 1947. Digno García (Luque, 1919 - Geraardsbergen, 4 February 1984) was a Paraguayan harpist. Garcia formed his own group Sus Carios with Lonardo Aquino, Antonia Alvarez and Arnaldo Peralta. Agustín Barboza
Agustín Pío Barboza (5 May 1913 – 18 December 1998) was a Paraguayan singer and composer. Biography Childhood and youth Barboza was born in Asunción, Paraguay. While still an adolescent in 1929, he went to Buenos Aires to work as a seaman aboard the ''Mixu'', a ship flying the Argentine flag. Alternating his work of seaman with musical activities, he met Basilio Melgarejo Molinas (“Melga”). They formed a duo and later formed the trio of Melgarejo-Barboza-Feliu. First steps In Buenos Aires, he worked with other singers such as Samuel Aguayo, Emilio Bobadilla Cáceres and Diosnel Chase. Alberto y Lost Trios Paranoias were an English comedy rock band, formed in Manchester, England in 1973. Their story is told in CP Lee's book ''When We Were Thin'' (published 2007 by Hotun Press). The name of the band is a corruption of the Latin American band Alberto y Los Trios Paraguayos. Career Created in 1972 by former member of Greasy Bear, Chris "C.P." Lee, with Jimmy Hibbert (vocals, bass) (ex Jacko Ogg and the Head People) and Bob Harding (vocals, guitar, bass), the comedy sketch outfit became a musical group in 1974 and was joined by former Greasy Bear (1968–1972) drummer Bruce Mitchell (drums), with Les Prior (vocals), Simon White (steel guitar, guitar), Tony Bowers (bass, guitar) and Ray "Mighty Mongo" Hughes (second drummer). Los Paraguayos
Los Paraguayos is a music group consisting of musicians from Paraguay. Since its foundation in the 1950s, the group has featured many singers and musicians, playing guitars, bongo drums and a Paraguayan harp, including Luis Alberto del Paraná, Reynaldo Meza, Angel "Pato" Garcia and Carlos Espinoza. The group performs many South American and Music of Mexico, Mexican tunes and songs, including classics, such as "Guantanamera", "El Cóndor Pasa (song), El Cóndor Pasa", "Pajaro Campana (The Bell Bird)" and "La Bamba (song), La Bamba."
