Alberdi is the city in the Ñeembucú Department of Paraguay. It is south of the capital city, Asunción. Alberdi is located along the Paraguay River. Its name pays homage to the Argentine writer Juan Bautista Alberdi, who voiced his sympathy and support for Paraguay during the Paraguayan War. Pilar () is the capital city of the Paraguayan department of Ñeembucú, located along the Paraguay River in the southwestern part of the country. Villeta is a city of Paraguay in the Central Department, on the banks of Paraguay River. It is an important industrial center and port. Toponymy The city was founded on March 5, 1714, by Juan Gregorio Bazán de Pedraza, with the original name of San Felipe de Borbón del Valle del Bastán (Saint Philip of Bourbon of the Valley of Bastán), in homage to the King Felipe II.
