Alanian Union
Alanian Union was a minor political party that existed in the partially recognized Caucasian republic of South Ossetia following the 2017 South Ossetian presidential election to its merger into Nykhaz for the 2019 South Ossetian parliamentary election. History The party was founded by former member of Parliament of North Ossetia, Alan Gagloev, following his defeat in the 2017 election. The party's platform was largely just Gagloev's personal political beliefs; Anti-corruption, Government Reform, and Ossetian nationalism. In the lead up to the 2019 South Ossetian parliamentary election, Anatoly Bibilov's government introduced a new law which required every party to be re-registered before every election, with the government having a final say if a party can exist, allowing Bibilov to effectively control the opposition. Alan Eduardovich Gagloev ( os, Гаглойты Эдуарды фырт Алан, Gaglojty Edwardy fyrt Alan; russian: Алан Эдуардович Гаглоев; born 6 February 1981), also transliterated as Gagloyev, is a South Ossetian politician and former intelligence officer, who is the current president of South Ossetia since 2022. He is also the current chairman of the Nykhaz party since 2020. Early life Alan Gagloev was born on 6 February 1981, in Tskhinvali. He graduated from the South Ossetian State University in 2002 and was hired by the Ministry of Economic Development of South Ossetia as the chief specialist of the department for supporting small and medium-sized businesses. He fought in the Russo-Georgian War in 2008. Nykhaz
Nykhaz ( os, Ныхас, Nykhas, lit=Meeting, Speech) is a political party in South Ossetia founded in 2013 by supporters of Independent president Leonid Tibilov. History The party was founded by Alan Alborov, former mayor of Tskhinvali. By the 2014 South Ossetian parliamentary election, in which the party won four seats, the party's leader was Ruslan Gagloyev. Although officially an Independent, the party has been associated with then President Leonid Tibilov, with this association continuing even after him leaving office in 2017. Gagloyev initially ran as the party's candidate for president in 2017. However, he would be disqualified and endorsed Tibilov.
