Alan Keane (soccer)
Alan Keane (born 23 September 1984) is a retired Irish footballer. Keane is a versatile player who can play anywhere across the back four, though his preferred position is right back. He has also been known to play on the wing. Career Galway United Keane made his début for Galway United towards the end of the 2005 season and was mostly was used as a right back in his time with the club. Sligo Rovers In February 2009, Keane joined Sligo Rovers after four seasons at Galway United. Keane missed a penalty and scored an own goal in the 2009–10 UEFA Europa League tie against Albanian side Vllaznia. In the second leg he scored at the right end. He went on to become Rovers regular penalty taker during the 2010 season scoring some important goals including one in the last minute of the season against St. Patrick's Athletic to secure third place. Stephen Kenny (born 30 October 1971) is an Irish football manager and former player who is currently manager of the Republic of Ireland national football team. He has formerly managed Longford Town, Bohemians, Derry City, Dunfermline Athletic, Shamrock Rovers, Dundalk and the Republic of Ireland U21 He is one of Ireland's most successful domestic league managers, having won eight trophies with Dundalk. Early life Kenny grew up in Tallaght and lived there for the first 18 years of his life. He attended Our Lady of Loreto Boys National School and Old Bawn Community School. 2014 Setanta Sports Cup
The 2014 Setanta Sports Cup was the ninth and final staging of the annual all-Ireland football competition. It commenced on 24 February 2014 and concluded on 10 May 2014 with the final. Shamrock Rovers were the defending champions, following a comfortable 7–1 win over Drogheda United in the 2013 final. This season's competition was reduced in size from twelve clubs down to eight, with four clubs representing each league. Setanta Sports Cup
The Setanta Sports Cup was a club football competition featuring teams from both football associations on the island of Ireland. Inaugurated in 2005, it was a cross-border competition between clubs in the League of Ireland from the Republic of Ireland and the NIFL Premiership from Northern Ireland. The cup was sponsored by Setanta Sports, the Irish subscription sports television network. The competition was discontinued after the 2014 edition. The 2010 League of Ireland Cup, also known as the 2010 EA Sports Cup, was the 37th season of the League of Ireland knockout competition. The competition was won by Sligo Rovers who defeated Monaghan United in the final on 25 September 2010 at the Sligo Showgrounds. A total of 29 teams competed in the 2010 competition. The ten Premier Division, twelve First Division clubs were joined by five A Championship teams plus Letterkenny Rovers, the 2009 Ulster Senior League champions, and the Kerry District League representative side. The League of Ireland Cup ( ga, Corn Sraithe na hÉireann), also referred to in Ireland as the 'League Cup', is an annual knockout competition in men's football in the Republic of Ireland. It is contested by League of Ireland clubs and invited clubs from the lower levels of the Republic of Ireland football league system. It has been sponsored by Electronic Arts and branded the EA Sports Cup since 2009. The competition began in 1973–74, replacing the League of Ireland Shield and the Dublin City Cup.
