Alan Byrne (footballer, Born 1969)
Alan Byrne (born 12 May 1969) is an Irish former soccer player who played during the 1980s and 1990s. Byrne was a midfielder who represented Bohemian F.C., Shamrock Rovers, Shelbourne, Linfield F.C., Newry Town and Bray Wanderers during his career in Ireland. He made his League of Ireland debut for Bohs on 27 September 1987 in a 4-1 hammering by Rovers. During his time at Dalymount Park he won the FAI Cup in 1992. In total he played 132 games (123 plus 9 as sub) scoring 4 goals. He played in every single position while at Dalymount. On one occasion he took over in goal after Dermot O'Neill got sent off against Shamrock Rovers. He transferred to linfield f.c. in the summer of 1993 for £26,000.00 which saw Mick Moody move the other direction. During his one season at Rovers he won the League Championship in 1994 scoring 1 goal in 28 league appearances. He was also named Player of the Year. Alan Byrne (Gaelic Footballer)
Alan Byrne is an Irish sportsperson who played Gaelic football for Wicklow Senior Football Championship team Annacurra and was a member of the Wicklow senior team from 2003 until 2015. Byrne predominantly played as a corner back for Wicklow but in many central positions from centre back to centre forward for his club. Playing career Byrne played at the intercounty level with both minor and under-21 county teams for several years. On the back of his performances, he was called into the Wicklow Junior team that won an All-Ireland Junior title in 2002 where he played in the cornerback position. The following year, he was a member of the senior side and made his championship debut as a sub vs Louth. He spent some time in the intercounty wilderness following the arrival of Hugh Kenny as manager. In 2007, Mick O'Dwyer arrived and Byrne was selected to play for O'Dwyer's senior squad. Alan Byrne (hurler)
Alan Byrne (born 21 December 1985) is an Irish hurler who played as a right wing-back for the Tipperary senior team. Born in Ballinderry, County Tipperary, Byrne first played competitive hurling during his schooling at Flannans College Ennis winning Harty Cup Medals. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty when he first linked up with the Tipperary under-21 team. He made his senior debut during the 2006 Waterford Crystal Cup. Byrne subsequently became a regular member of the team and won one National Hurling League medal. At club level Byrne began his career with Shannon Rovers. He currently plays with Michael Cusack's in Sydney. Throughout his career Byrne made 3 championship appearances for Tipperary. He left the senior panel after the conclusion of the 2008 championship, however, he returned to inter-county action as a member of the intermediate team over the following three years.
