Alain Fousseret
Alain Fousseret (25 March 1956 – 6 December 2022) was a French politician and one of ten vice presidents of the Franche-Comté Regional Council. He won the nomination to be the next Greens and Europe Écologie candidate for President of Franche-Comté in 2010. Alain Fousseret was the brother of Jean-Louis Fousseret, the former Socialist mayor of Besançon. He died on 6 December 2022, at the age of 66. A regional council (french: conseil régional) is the elected assembly of a region of France. History Regional councils were created by law on 5 July 1972. Originally they were simply consultative bodies consisting of the region's parliamentary representatives plus an equal number of members nominated by the departments and communes. Europe Ecology (french: Europe Écologie) was a green electoral coalition of political parties in France created for the 2009 European elections composed of The Greens and other ecologists and regionalists. For the European Parliament election in 2014, this electoral alliance was renewed. The coalition was launched on 20 October 2008 with the support of the European Green Party and Daniel Cohn-Bendit, a Franco-German MEP previously representing the Alliance '90/The Greens of Germany, but who ran in France in 2009. Jean-Louis Fousseret
Jean-Louis Fousseret (born 23 December 1946) is a French politician. A member of La République En Marche!, Fousseret was Governor of the Canton of Besançon-Planoise from 1988 to 2001 and a Member of Parliament of the district of Doubs from 1997 to 2002. He was mayor of Besançon and president of Grand Besançon Métropole from 2001 to 2020. Biography Fousseret was born in the French city of Besançon (Doubs, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté). A technician in microtechnology, he graduated from the watchmaking school of Besançon and worked in the computer industry from 1967 to 1997.
