Al Overton
Al Overton (May 20, 1912 – August 1, 1985) was an American sound engineer. He was nominated for an Academy Award in the category Best Sound for the film '' Diamonds Are Forever''. The Academy Award for Best Sound is an Academy Award that recognizes the finest or most euphonic sound mixing, recording, sound design, and sound editing. The award used to go to the studio sound departments until a rule change in 1969 said it should be awarded to the specific technicians. The first were Murray Spivack and Jack Solomon for '' Hello, Dolly!''. It is generally awarded to the production sound mixers, re-recording mixers, and supervising sound editors of the winning film. In the lists below, the winner of the award for each year is shown first, followed by the other nominees. ''Diamonds Are Forever'' is a 1971 spy film, the seventh in the ''James Bond'' series produced by Eon Productions. It is the sixth and final Eon film to star Sean Connery, who returned to the role as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond, having declined to reprise the role in '' On Her Majesty's Secret Service'' (1969). The film is based on Ian Fleming's 1956 novel of the same name and is the second of four ''James Bond'' films directed by Guy Hamilton.
