Al Ittihad Alexandria, also known as Al Ittihad Elsakandry, is a basketball club based in the city of Alexandria, Egypt. The team plays in the Egyptian Basketball Premier League. The team is widely considered one of the basketball powerhouse of Egypt, having won 13 championships. Ittihad has won the FIBA Africa Champions Cup in 1987, crowning itself African champions. The team has also won the Arab Championship seven times. Egyptian Basketball Premier League
The Egyptian Basketball Premier League () is the top professional basketball division of the Egyptian basketball league system. Administrated by the Egyptian Basketball Federation (EBBFED), it is contested by 16 teams, with the two lowest-placed teams relegated to the Egyptian Basketball Premier League B and replaced by the top two teams in that division. A total of five clubs have been crowned champions of the Egyptian Basketball Super League since its inception in 1972, with Zamalek winning the title a record 15 times and Al Ittihad 13 times, though the Egyptian Basketball Super League also saw other champions, including Gezira (11 times), Al Ahly (6 times) and Sporting (3 times). Mouloukou Souleyman Diabate (born 21 July 1987), commonly known as Solo Diabate, is an Ivorian basketball player who plays for Petro de Luanda of the Angolan Basketball League and the Basketball Africa League (BAL). He also represents the Ivory Coast national team. With Ivory Coast, Diabate has won two silver medals at AfroBasket tournaments in 2009 and 2021. Ahmed Mohamed Marei (Arabic: Ψ£ΨΩ Ψ― Ω Ψ±ΨΉΩ; born 5 January 1959) is an Egyptian professional basketball coach and former player, currently serving as the head coach for Zamalek SC of the Egyptian Basketball Super League (EBSL). Previously he has also been the head coach of Al Ittihad Alexandria and the Egyptian national team. Playing career He played for Egyptβs national team in 1984 when he was a part of its Olympic Team. Coaching career Marei coached Al Ittihad Alexandria from 2019 to 2022 and helped the team win the Super League in 2020 and reach the finals in the next two seasons. He also won the Egypt Basketball Cup in 2020 and 2021. In May 2022, Marei signed to become the head coach of Zamalek.
