Al Freeman (artist)
Al Freeman (born in 1981 in Canada) is a New York–based artist. In her sculptures, Freeman reproduces everyday objects at an exaggerated scale, rendering them puffy and tactile. By presenting her works as partially deflated, she playfully imbues objects like a beer can, a hammer, or a lava lamp with a message of subverted masculinity. Solo exhibitions Freeman is currently represented by Carl Kostyál and 56 HENRY, which featured her in ''Soft Dirty Blonde in 2023', Floors in 2022', sweaty gray cotton tank top in 2020', and'' ''Cubicle'' in fall 2019. She also presented ''Pillows'' at Felix, Los Angeles, earlier that year, a reprisal of the exhibition first shown in 2017 at 56 HENRY. 56 Henry (art Gallery)
56 Henry is an American contemporary art gallery owned by Eleanor Rines. It is located at 56 Henry Street in New York City. History Rines opened her first gallery, 55 Gansevoort, in New York's Meatpacking District, Manhattan, Meatpacking District in 2013. The gallery was known for showcasing unique emerging and established artists in its modest storefront space. When the space was sold by the owners in August 2015, Rines moved the gallery to 56 Henry in New York's Two Bridges neighborhood of Lower Manhattan, bordering Chinatown, and changed its name accordingly. It is located at street level, and the gallery’s exhibitions are visible to the public twenty-four hours a day. The gallery opened a second location, 105 Henry in 2022. Bortolami (gallery)
Bortolami is a contemporary art gallery founded in 2005 by Stefania Bortolami and Amalia Dayan. History Before opening the gallery, Bortolami worked for Anthony d'Offay. Dayan was a director with Gagosian Gallery. The gallery first opened a space at West 25th Street in Chelsea. From 2010 to 2016, the gallery operated a space on West 20th Street in Chelsea. It has since been located in a space at 39 Walker Street in Tribeca, but also organizes 12-month long contemporary art exhibitions in unlikely locations for its ''Artist/City'' project that pairs an artist with an American city.
