Akuma (band)
Akuma were a Canadian punk band from Montreal, founded in 1998 by former Banlieue Rouge member Safwan Hamdi. According to a post on the Facebook page of Rock My World Canada, "the band distinguishes itself through its opposition to neoliberalism, both through its lyrics and through its actions." History The original line-up was Safwan Hamdi (guitar and vocals), 'Simon' (bass and background vocals), 'Sylva' (drums), and 'Mark' (guitar, background vocals). It was this line-up which created the group's first album, ''100 Démons'', released in 2001. Mark and Simon left the band and were replaced by 'Sébastien' (bass) and 'Yannick' (guitar). In 2004, the band released the album ''Subversion'' through Pavillon Noir. In 2006, the band released ''...Des Cendres Et Du Désespoir'' ''(Ashes and Despair)''. One of Akuma's songs appeared on a compilation released by the 1999 Festival Polliwog, which was an annual Montreal punk-metal festival. The band played the Festival d'été de Quà ... Union Label Group
Union Label Group is a record label based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It was formed through the merger of the smaller labels Stomp Records, 2112 Records, and Tyrant Records. Mayday! Records was later created as a genre imprint. Stomp Records was founded in 1994 by Matt Collyer of The Planet Smashers and Jordan Swift of The Kingpins. The label specializes in third wave ska, and was founded to release ''All-Skanadian Club Volume 1'', a compilation of ska and ska punk from across Canada. Soon after that release, The Planet Smashers released their self-titled debut album and The Kingpins released the "On the Run" EP on the label. In 2000, Stomp Records merged with 2112 Records, a Montreal label that specialized in punk rock, to form Union 2112. Tyrant Records released mod revival, garage rock, and new wave music. Festival d'été de Québec (FEQ) is the biggest outdoor musical event in Canada. The event was held since 1968, the 11-day festival takes place every year in July. FEQ's programming includes many international stars and emerging artists from around the globe. Vans Warped Tour
The Warped Tour was a traveling rock tour that toured the United States plus three or four stops in Canada annually each summer from 1995 until 2019. It was the largest traveling music festival in the United States and the longest-running touring music festival to date in North America. Following the first Warped Tour, the skateboard shoe manufacturer Vans became the tour’s main sponsor, when it then became known as the Vans Warped Tour. Vans toured Australia in 1998-2002 and again in 2013. Although Vans continued as main sponsor and lent its name to the festival, other sponsors also participated, with stages or other aspects of the festival being named after them on occasion.
