Akseli Brander
Aksel (Akseli) Vilhelm Brander (18 April 1876 – 3 October 1958) was a Finnish agronomist, educationist, farmer and politician. He was a member of the Parliament of Finland from 1933 to 1951, representing the Agrarian League. He was born in Kitee, and was the younger brother of Augusta Laine and of Uuno and Helena Brander Helena Elisabet Brander (5 July 1872 - 31 December 1953) was a Finnish teacher of handicraft, school director and politician. Finland ( fi, Suomi ; sv, Finland ), officially the Republic of Finland (; ), is a Nordic country in Northern Europe. It shares land borders with Sweden to the northwest, Norway to the north, and Russia to the east, with the Gulf of Bothnia to the west and the Gulf of Finland across Estonia to the south. The Parliament of Finland ( ; ) is the unicameral and supreme legislature of Finland, founded on 9 May 1906. In accordance with the Constitution of Finland, sovereignty belongs to the people, and that power is vested in the Parliament. The Parliament consists of 200 members, 199 of whom are elected every four years from 13 multi-member districts electing 7 to 36 members using the proportional D'Hondt method. In addition, there is one member from Åland. Legislation may be initiated by either the Government or one of the members of Parliament.
