Akkol, Talas District
Akkol (, zh, 阿科尔) is a town located in the Talas District, Zhambyl Region, Kazakhstan. Since 1977 it is part of Akkol rural district (КАТО code — 316231100). Demographics According to the 2009 Kazakhstan census, the town has a population of 2327 people. In 1999 the town had a population of 3103. Geography The town is located northeast of the district center, the city of Karatau. East Kazakhstan
East Kazakhstan Region ( kk, Шығыс Қазақстан облысы, translit=Şyğys Qazaqstan oblysy; russian: Восточно-Казахстанская область, Vostochno-Kazakhstanskaya oblast) is a region of Kazakhstan. Karatau ( kz, Қаратау, ''Qaratau'') is an administrative center in the Talas region located in the Jambyl Region in the south of Kazakhstan. It has an estimated population of roughly 30,000 in 1999. , the population is now 27,667. The largest city from Karatau, Taraz, is approximately 100 km to the southwest. Name The name ''Karatau'' means ''Black Mountain'' in the Kazakh language. Ashchykol, Jambyl Region
Ashchykol ( kk, Ащыкөл) is a salt lake in the Sarysu and Talas districts, Jambyl Region, Kazakhstan. Ashchykol is located to the northwest of Akkol village. Geography Ashchykol is located north of the Karatau Range, in the lower Talas river basin. Lake Tuzkol lies very close to the west, and Akkol to the southeast.
