Akim Oda (Ghana Parliament Constituency)
Alexander Akwasi Acquah is the member of parliament for the Akim Oda constituency in Ghana's 8th parliament under the fourth republic. The first time MP was elected on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). With a majority of 25,380 votes out of the 31,943 total votes cast (which represents 79.45%), he defeated his opponents and won the seat as the 5th MP for the Constituency. He succeeded William Quaitoo who represented the constituency for eight (8) years from 2012 to 2020 on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Before him was Yaw Owusu-Boateng as the member of parliament for the constituency for four (4) years (2008-2012) until a new constituency was created out of the Akim Oda constituency in 2012 which had him representing the newly created Constituency, Asene Akoroso Manso on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that year. Birim Central Municipal District
Birim Central Municipal District is one of the thirty-three districts in Eastern Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988 when it was known as the first Birim South District, which it was created from the former Birim District Council, until the western part of the district was split off to create a new Birim South District, with Akim Swedru as its capital town; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Birim Central Municipal District on 29 February 2008, with Akim Oda as its capital town, which it was elevated to municipal district assembly status on that same year. 1996 Ghanaian Parliamentary Election
General elections were held in Ghana on 7 December 1996. In the presidential election, incumbent Jerry Rawlings of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was reelected in a single round, defeating John Kufuor of the Great Alliance (led by Kufuor's New Patriotic Party with 57.3 percent of the vote. Ghana Union Movement
The Ghana Union Movement is a political party in Ghana. It was founded by Christian Kwabena Andrews who is also the founder of the Life Assembly Worship Center in Accra. During the launch of the party, he declared that he is "new Kwame Nkrumah" and also that the "spirit of Nkrumah is back." The party's agenda received some backing from Samia Nkrumah, daughter of Kwame Nkrumah. 2020 general election Andrews is one of the presidential candidates for the 2020 Ghanaian general election. 2020 Ghanaian General Election
General elections were held in Ghana on 7 December 2020. Incumbent President Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was re-elected in the first round after securing a majority of the votes. Former President John Dramani Mahama says he will contest the results. The NPP lost its majority in the parliament, winning just as many seats as the opposition NDC, resulting in a hung parliament with a single independent (Andrew Asiamah Amoako) in the position of kingmaker. 2012 Ghanaian General Election
General elections were held in Ghana on Friday 7 December 2012 to elect a president and members of Parliament in 275 electoral constituencies. Owing to the breakdown of some biometric verification machines, some voters could not vote, and voting was extended to Saturday 8 December 2012. A run-off was scheduled for 28 December 2012 if no presidential candidate received an absolute majority of 50% plus one vote. Yaw Owusu-Boateng
Yaw Owusu-Boateng (born July 25, 1955) is a Ghanaian educationist and politician. He was a member of the Sixth Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana who represented the Asene/Akroso/Manso constituency in the Eastern Region on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party. Early life and education Owusu-Boateng was born on July 25, 1955. He hails from Akyem Asene, a town in the Eastern Region of Ghana. 2008 Ghanaian Parliamentary Election
General elections were held in Ghana on 7 December 2008. Since no candidate received more than 50% of the votes, a run-off election was held on 28 December 2008 between the two candidates who received the most votes, Nana Akufo-Addo of the governing New Patriotic Party and John Atta Mills of the opposition National Democratic Congress. Yaw Osafo-Maafo
Yaw Osafo-Maafo is a Ghanaian politician who was appointed in April as the senior presidential advisor to the Akufo-Addo Administration 2021. He was Senior Minister of the Republic of Ghana in the Akufo-Addo Administration from 2017 to 2021. He was Member of Parliament for Akim Oda from 1997 to 2009, and previously served as Finance Minister and in other cabinet roles in the Kufuor Administration between 2001 and 2009. National Democratic Congress (Ghana)
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is a social democratic political party in Ghana, founded by Jerry Rawlings, who was Head of State of Ghana from 1981 to 1993 and the President of Ghana from 1993 to 2001. Following the formation of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC), which ruled Ghana following the military coup d'état on 31 December 1981, there was pressure from the international community to restore democracy. The NDC was formed as the ruling party ahead of elections in 1992, in which Rawlings was elected president, and in 1996 Rawlings was re-elected as the NDC candidate. The Eastern Region is located in south Ghana and is one of the sixteen administrative regions of Ghana. 1992 Ghanaian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Ghana on 29 December 1992, the first since 1979. Voter turnout was just 28.1% amidst a boycott by opposition parties, who had claimed the preceding presidential elections in November – won by former military ruler Jerry Rawlings with 58% of the vote – were fraudulent, with international observers considering them not to have been conducted in a free and fair manner. The result was a victory for Rawlings's National Democratic Congress, which won 189 of the 200 seats. William Agyapong Quaitoo (born September 11, 1966 in Akim Gyadam) is a Ghanaian politician. He served as a member of parliament for Akim Oda Constituency, Eastern Region in the 7th Parliament. He was appointed Deputy Minister of Agriculture in 2013. He is the Chief executive officer of the Tree Crops Development Authority. Early life and education Quaitoo was born on 11 September 1966 and hails from Akim Gyadam in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
