Akbar Khorasani
Akbar Khorasani (born 1961) is a prominent Afghan- Ukrainian painter. Life Khorasani was born in Uruzgan in Afghanistan and was drafted into the army in Kabul before going to art school in Ukraine in 1986. During his studies, the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, rendering him unable to return; in 1996 he was recognized as a refugee. He became a Ukrainian citizen in 2003. His work is held in private collections in Asia, Europe, and the United States. He is considered one of the painters of the second golden age of Realism in Afghanistan, along with Karim Shah Khan, Abdul Ghafoor Breshna, Ghulam Mohieddin Shabnam, Mohammad Maimanagi and Hafiz Pakzad Hafiz Pakzad (born 1955) is a prominent Afghan painter. Afghan People
Afghans ( ps, افغانان, translit=afghanan; Persian/ prs, افغان ها, translit=afghānhā; Persian: افغانستانی, romanized: ''Afghanistani'') or Afghan people are nationals or citizens of Afghanistan, or people with ancestry from there. Karim Shah Khan (1919 - late 1980s) was an Afghan painter. Life He was born in Kabul and was a graduate of the A'dadieh School. Among his works are ''Sketches of domestic and wild animals'' published by the Ministry of Education. He died in Kabul in the late 1980s. Abdul Ghafoor Breshna (Pashto: عبدالغفور بريښنا) (10 April 1907 – 4 January 1974) was an Afghan painter, music composer, poet, and film director. He is regarded as one of the country's most talented artists. He also composed the former national anthem of Afghanistan that was used during the 1970s. Early life and education Breshana was born as Abdul Ghafoor on 10 April 1907 in Kabul, Afghanistan. The word ''Breshna'' means ''lightning'', which he added as a last name. In 1921, he was amongst the students who were sent to Germany for higher education by Amanullah Khan. He studied painting and lithography at Academy of Fine Arts, Munich. Personal life In Germany, Breshna married Marguerhee and returned to Afghanistan in 1931. Death and legacy He died on 4 January 1974 in his birth city of Kabul. Realism was an artistic movement that emerged in France in the 1840s, around the 1848 Revolution. Realists rejected Romanticism, which had dominated French literature and art since the early 19th century. Realism revolted against the exotic subject matter and the exaggerated emotionalism and drama of the Romantic movement. Instead, it sought to portray real and typical contemporary people and situations with truth and accuracy, and not avoiding unpleasant or sordid aspects of life.
