AirClass Airways
AirClass Airways was an airline based in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Spain. It operated passenger services from Spain, as well as charters and wet lease services. Its main base was Gran Canaria International Airport. History The airline started operations in February 2003. It was founded by Canaria Travel as a sister company to the airline Travel Service under the name Visig Operaciones Aéreas. Operations started with a Boeing 737-800 transferred from Travel Service. Visig was closed down in 2005 and in November 2005 the company was acquired by Spanish investment group Airclass and reorganised by Futura International Airways. In May 2006 the company was rebranded as AirClass Airways. It was wholly owned by Airclass and had 48 employees. AirClass Airways ceased operations in 2008. Smartwings, a.s. (formerly ''Travel Service, a.s.'') is a low-cost leisure Czech airline, with its head office on the property of Václav Havel Airport Prague in Ruzyně, 6th district, Prague. It is the biggest airline in the Czech Republic and it operates scheduled and chartered flights, mainly to leisure destinations, and also wet and dry leases its aircraft to other airlines. The Boeing 737 Classic is a series of narrow-body airliners produced by Boeing Commercial Airplanes, the second generation of the Boeing 737 series of aircraft. Development began in 1979 and the first variant, the 737-300, first flew in February 1984 and entered service that December. Futura International Airways was an airline with its head office in the ''Zona Facturación'' on the property of Palma de Mallorca Airport in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. It operated scheduled services and charter flights for tour operators and other airlines, in Europe, as well as wet lease and ad hoc charters. Its main base was Palma de Mallorca Airport. Wet Lease
Aircraft leases are leases used by airlines and other aircraft operators. Airlines lease aircraft from other airlines or leasing companies for two main reasons: to operate aircraft without the financial burden of buying them, and to provide temporary increase in capacity. The industry has two main leasing types: wet-leasing, which is normally used for short-term leasing, and dry-leasing which is more normal for longer-term leases. The industry also uses combinations of wet and dry. For example, when the aircraft is wet-leased to establish new services, then as the airline's flight or cabin crews become trained, they can be switched to a dry lease.
