Rallou Karatza
Princess Rallou Karatza ( el, Ραλλού Καρατζά; ro, Ralu Caragea; 1799, Constantinople – 1870, Thonberg near Leipzig) was a Phanariote Greek artist. She was the daughter of the Prince of Wallachia, Ioannis Karatzas (r. 1812–1818). She convinced her father to found a Royal Dramatic Society, and founded the first court theatre. She became an actress, theatre director, translator and participant in the Greek War of Independence. She had an early interest for theatre, both ancient and modern. She became the founder of the first theatre in Bucharest called "Cişmeaua Roşie", formed by students from the Greek School in Bucharest. She became a member of the secret group Filiki Eteria, which worked for the independence of Greece from the Ottoman Empire, and became a great weapon in the propaganda for Greek independence through the plays she performed on stage. Florin Piersic (; born 27 January 1936) is a well-known Romanian actor and TV personality. He is particularly famous for his leading roles in ''The White Moor'' and the ''Margelatu'' series films. He has a reputation, often parodied in popular culture, as a raconteur. In 2006 and 2011 the actor was chosen by Disney Pixar to provide the Romanian voice of Mack in the animated movie ''Cars''. Biography Piersic's parents were from Bucovina, his mother was born in Valea Seacă, and his father, Ștefan Piersic, a veterinary physician, was originally from Corlata. Piersic spent his childhood years in Corlata, Pojorâta and Cajvana, later, in Cernăuţi, and then his family moved to Cluj, where Florin graduated from the High School for Boys No. 3. Unguriu
Unguriu () is a commune in the Buzău County, Muntenia, Romania, 18 km north-west of Buzău, the county capital, on the bank of the river Buzău. It is composed of two villages, Ojasca and Unguriu. History The first mention of Unguriu is an act of Constantine Mavrocordato from the year 1782, who transferred property of the village of Unguriu to the bishopric of Buzău. In the mid-17th century, nearby, at the Ciuciuri springs, the Unguriu monastery is built.History section of commune website The village of Ojasca is first mentioned in 1715, when Luxandra Ierculeasa gives the same bishopric a patch of land there. The Doom
''The Doom'' ( ro, Osînda) is a 1976 Romanian drama film directed by Sergiu Nicolaescu. The film was entered into the 10th Moscow International Film Festival where Amza Pellea won the award for Best Actor. The film was also selected as the Romanian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 49th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee. Plot Peasant Manolache Preda returns to his village after an absence of twelve years. After serving ten years in the salt mines as punishment for killing the local landowner during a peasant's revolt, he served two years in the army, fighting in WW1. On his return he finds his wife has sold his land to the nephew of the landowner he killed and has taken up with another man.
