Ahsan Habib (cartoonist)
Ahsan Habib () is a Bangladeshi cartoonist, writer and editor of ''Unmad'', a satire magazine. Early life Habib was the third son of Faizur Rahman Ahmed and Ayesha Foyez. His father, a police officer, was killed by the Pakistani army during the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971. His elder brother, Humayun Ahmed, was a writer and film-maker. Another brother, Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, is also a writer and educationist. Habib is married to Afroza Amin and they are parents to only child Shabnam Ahsan. Due to his father's occupation, Habib spent his childhood in different parts of Bangladesh - Jagdal, Panchagarh, Rangamati, Bandarban, Chittagong, Bogra, Comilla and Pirojpur. Education Habib studied in more than eight schools before the SSC exam. He earned MSc degree in geography from the University of Dhaka. Career Habib started career as a cartoonist and writer. Unmad
''Unmad'', the Sanskrit word for ''mad'' or ''insane'', has been used as the name of a monthly satire magazine in Bangladesh. The magazine was founded by Ishtiaq Hossain and Kazi Khaleed Ashraf in 1978 and tries to ape ''MAD'' Magazine. Bangladeshi cartoonist Ahsan Habib is its present chief editor. Applications for iPhone and Android of the magazine was launched on April 9, 2013 by Reverie Corporation Limited. Publishing history ''Unmad'' was founded in Dhaka, Bangladesh by Kazi Khaleed Ashraf and Ishtiaq Hossain. The first issue was dated May 1978. The schedule was initially quarterly, but it switched to a monthly schedule in 1991. Pirojpur () is a district (zilla) in southern-western Bangladesh. It is a part of Barisal Division. Etymology According to myth, the second son of Subedar Shah Shuja (Mughal), Shah Shuja, Firoz Shah, died in this area, and the area became known subsequently as 'Firozpur'. In time, the pronunciation 'Firozpur' slowly muted to 'Pirozpur' and later 'Pirojpur'. Geography Most of the land is low-lying and the soil is fertile. There are small forests. Urdu poetry ( ur, ) is a tradition of poetry and has many different forms. Today, it is an important part of the cultures of South Asia.
