Ahrem
Ahrem was a village in Germany near Cologne. Ahrem is now part of the town Erftstadt. Geographical location , population 1,103 (2003). The first written documentation about Ahrem was in 1256, when the archbishop of Cologne mentions ''Ainhem''. However the name of the village points to roots in the time of the Franks The Franks ( la, Franci or ) were a group of Germanic peoples whose name was first mentioned in 3rd-century Roman sources, and associated with tribes between the Lower Rhine and the Ems River, on the edge of the Roman Empire.H. Schutz: Tools, ...; it means "village of Arn (or Arno)". This dating is supported by a cemetery which was dated to the 6th century. Ahrem belonged to the clerical state of Cologne, in the ''Amt Lechenich''. The Archbishop of Cologne is an archbishop governing the Archdiocese of Cologne of the Catholic Church in western North Rhine-Westphalia and is also a historical state in the Rhine holding the birthplace of Beethoven and northern Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany and was ''ex officio'' one of the Prince-electors of the Holy Roman Empire, the Elector of Cologne, from 1356 to 1801. Franks
The Franks ( la, Franci or ) were a group of Germanic peoples whose name was first mentioned in 3rd-century Roman sources, and associated with tribes between the Lower Rhine and the Ems River, on the edge of the Roman Empire.H.
