Ahmed Latif
Abdul Latif Ahmadi is an Afghan film director, also known as Engineer Latif Ahmadi. He co-founded Afghanistan’s first private film production company Ariana Films (with Toryalai Shafaq and Juwansher Haidary), and became the president of Afghan Film, the state-run Afghan film company. As the head of Afghan Film, he has been credited with assisting many of the recent films being produced in Afghanistan such as ''Buzkashi Boys'', '' The Black Tulip'' and '' The Kite Runner'' as well as traveling around the world to introduce Afghan cinema to various audiences. Afghan Film
Afghan Film also known as Afghan Film Organization (AFO) is Afghanistan's state-run film company, established in 1968. The current president is Sahraa Karimi, who attained a PhD in Cinema from the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava and is its first female president. It is also a film archive. Many of its contents were destroyed by the Taliban, although some staff members saved valuable films risking their own lives. A number of rescue and archival efforts were chronicled in the 2015 documentary '' A Flickering Truth''. ''The Black Tulip'' is a 2010 film directed by novice filmmaker Sonia Nassery Cole and starring Haji Gul Aser, Sonia Nassery Cole, Walid Amini, Jack Scalia, and Edoardo Costa. It is set in Afghanistan. Premise The film depicts the fictional Mansouri family who start a restaurant in Kabul named The Poets' Corner, where artists and writers meet. The story centers on Farishta (Cole), the woman who runs the cafe. The Poets' Corner serves wine in teapots and has poetry readings by locals and members of the U.S. military. ''The Kite Runner'' is a 2007 American drama film directed by Marc Forster from a screenplay by David Benioff and based on the 2003 novel of the same name by Khaled Hosseini. It tells the story of Amir, a well-to-do boy from the Wazir Akbar Khan district of Kabul who is tormented by the guilt of abandoning his friend Hassan. The story is set against a backdrop of tumultuous events, from the fall of the monarchy in Afghanistan through the Soviet military intervention, the mass exodus of Afghan refugees to Pakistan and the United States, and the Taliban regime.
