Ahmed Fayzi Pasha
Ahmed Fayzi Pasha (also Ahmed Feyzi Pasa) (1839-1915) was born in the Crimea. His father was a local muderris. From 1876 to 1885 he was deputy government and then governor of the 'Asir Region, and was promoted to brigadier general and then division general. Was governor general of Yemen from 1885 to 1887. From 1887 to 1891 he was commander in chief of military forces in the Hejaz. In 1891 he was appointed to command forces in Yemen to quell a revolt by Muhammad bin Yahya Hamid ad-Din, and remained appointed as governor until 1898. In 1898, as a field marshal, he was in command of the Sixth Imperial Army in Baghdad. From 1902 to 1904 he was governor of Baghdad in conjunction with his command. 'Asir Region
The ʿAsir Region ( ar, عَسِيرٌ, ʿAsīr, lit=difficult) is a region of Saudi Arabia located in the southwest of the country that is named after the ʿAsīr tribe. It has an area of and an estimated population of 2,211,875 (2017). It is surrounded by Mecca Province to the north and west, Al-Bahah Province to the northwest, Riyadh Province to the northeast, Jazan Province to the south, and Najran Province to the southeast. ʿAsir also shares a short border with the Saada Governorate of Yemen to the south. Muhammad Bin Yahya Hamid Ad-Din
Muhammad bin Yahya Hamid ad-Din ( ar, محمد بن يحيى حميد الدين; 1839 in Sana'a – 4 June 1904 in Qaflat Idhar) was an Imam of Yemen who led the resistance against the Ottoman occupation in 1890–1904. Outbreak of rebellion Muhammad bin Yahya Hamid ad-Din was a descendant of the founder of the Zaidi state in Yemen, Imam al-Mansur al-Qasim (d. 1620). As a middle-aged scholar, he experienced the Ottoman occupation of highland Yemen in 1872. In 1876, Muhammad and other religious leaders of San'a were arrested by the Turks due to a dispute with the Ottoman authorities. They were brought to Hudaydah where they were kept under surveillance for two years. Muhammad survived the exile and returned to San'a. Meanwhile, Zaidi resistance was kept alive by local groups including the followers of imams al-Mutawakkil al-Muhsin (d. 1878) and al-Hadi Sharaf ad-Din (d. 1890).
