Agostino Cardamone
Agostino Cardamone (born 1 December 1965) is an Italians, Italian former pro boxer of Romani people in Italy, Romani origin best known for winning the European Middleweight title. Career Cardamone, a southpaw, started his career in 1989 and won the Italian title against Silvio Branco in 1992. In 1993 he won the European crown, and in 1995 he challenged big-punching Julian Jackson (boxer), Julian Jackson for the vacant World Boxing Council title but was knocked out by a devastating right hand in the second round. The next year he was upset by the unknown Russian people, Russian Alexander Zaitsev (record 15-6) by knockout for the vacant European title but won a rematch on points. He won the lightly regarded World Boxing Union title in 1998 against Branco and successfully defended against him before getting knocked out by Dutch boxer Raymond Joval and retiring. Silvio Branco (born 26 August 1966) is an Italian former professional boxer of Romani origin. Career 1992 he was outpointed by undefeated southpaw Agostino Cardamone for the Italian middleweight title. When Cardamone vacated he could win the vacant crown later. He challenged undefeated Richie Woodhall for the European title but was taken apart and KOd. 1996 he beat respected contender Thomas Tate and won hereby the lightly regarded WBU middleweight title. He faced Cardamone twice more and lost both fights. One division higher he controversially outpointed Glen Johnson and upset Robin Reid in England. He got a super middleweight IBF title fight but lost a lopsided decision against Sven Ottke. Julian Jackson (born September 12, 1960) is a former professional boxer from the U.S. Virgin Islands who competed from 1981 to 1998. He is a three-time world champion in two weight classes, having held the WBA super welterweight title from 1987 to 1990, and the WBC middleweight title twice between 1990 and 1995. The World Boxing Union (WBU) was a boxing sanctioning body. The original WBU was founded in January 1995 by IBF European representative, boxing journalist, actor and former holder of the title of Britain's heaviest man Jon W. Robinson. It sanctioned boxing with various promoters worldwide. Following Robinson's death in 2004, the organization became dormant and was eventually dissolved.
