Agnes Nygaard Haug
Agnes Margrete Nygaard Haug (born 27 August 1933) is a Norwegian judge. She was born in Oslo as a daughter of Supreme Court Justice Marius Nygaard (1902–1978) and Eva Julie Johanne Christensen (1906–2000). Her great-grandfather was the academic Marius Nygaard, and she is also a grandniece of William Martin Nygaard and a second cousin of William Nygaard and Kristen Nygaard. In January 1956 she married judge Bjørn Haug (born 1928). They have the son Marius Nygaard Haug, a notable jurist. The Supreme Court of Norway (Norwegian Bokmål: ''(Norges) Høyesterett''; Norwegian Nynorsk: ''(Noregs) Høgsterett''; lit. ‘Highest Court’) was established in 1815 on the basis of section 88 in the Constitution of the Kingdom of Norway, which prescribes an independent judiciary. Bjørn Haug
Bjørn Haug (16 December 1928 – 8 April 2020) was a Norwegian jurist who held a number of appointed and elected positions. Biography He was born in Oslo. He worked in the Office of the Attorney General of Norway from 1959 to 1962 and in the private company Christiania Spigerverk from 1962 to 1972. He was then the Attorney General of Norway from 1972 to 1993, and also served as the State Conciliator of Norway, from January 1982 to January 1988. He was appointed to the European Free Trade Association Court in 1994, and served as its President from 1995 to 1999. From 1975 to 1981 he chaired the board of directors of the Norwegian National Opera. He has also been the auditor of the Norwegian Nobel Committee. Marius Nygaard Haug (born 1960) is a Norwegian jurist. Among others he has had a leading position in the Norges Bank#Norges Bank Investment Management, Norges Bank Investment Management. Kristen Nygaard
Kristen Nygaard (27 August 1926 – 10 August 2002) was a Norwegian computer scientist, programming language pioneer, and politician. Internationally, Nygaard is acknowledged as the co-inventor of object-oriented programming and the programming language Simula with Ole-Johan Dahl in the 1960s. Nygaard and Dahl received the 2001 A. M. Turing Award for their contribution to computer science. Early life and career Nygaard was born in Oslo and received his master's degree in mathematics at the University of Oslo in 1956. William Nygaard
William Nygaard (born 16 March 1943) is the retired head of the Norwegian publishing company Aschehoug. He was also chairman of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation. He has two children. Business career From 1974 to 2010, he was the chief publisher of Aschehoug, Norway's second largest publishing house, which is owned by the Nygaard family.
