Agaricostilbales
The Agaricostilbales are an order (biology), order of fungi in the class Agaricostilbomycetes. The order consists of six family (biology), families and 15 genus, genera. Agaricostilbales was originally described in 1989 by Franz Oberwinkler and Robert Bauer (mycologist), Robert Bauer with just two families, the Agaricostilbaceae and the Chionosphaeraceae. Molecular phylogenetics, Molecular research, based on cladistic analysis of DNA sequences, has subsequently added additional families. Many species are known only from their yeast states. Where known, basidiocarps (fruitbodies) are small and stilboid (pin-like). Species in the family Crittendeniaceae are lichenicolous. References External links

Crittendeniaceae
''Crittendenia'' is a genus of lichenicolous (lichen-dwelling) fungi in the monogeneric family Crittendeniaceae. The genus was circumscribed in 2021 to contain two species, '' C. lichenicola'', and the type, '' C. coppinsii''. An additional 16 species were added to the genus the following year. The genus name honours British lichenologist Peter Crittenden. Characteristics of ''Crittendenia'' include the tiny synnemata-like basidiomata, clamp connections, and aseptate tubular basidia from which 4–7 spores discharge passively, often in groups. Franz Oberwinkler
Franz Oberwinkler (22 May 1939 in Bad Reichenhall, Upper Bavaria – 15 March 2018 in Tübingen) was a German mycologist, specialising in the fungal morphology, ecology and phylogeny of basidiomycetes. Oberwinkler earned his PhD in 1965 at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich studying under Josef Poelt. From 1967 to 1974 he was a research assistant and lecturer at the Institute of Systematic Botany, University of Munich, becoming professor in 1972. Between 1968–1969 Oberwinkler was Scientific Expert of the Food and Agriculture Organization at the ''Instituto Forestal Latino-Americano'' in Mérida, Venezuela. In 1974 he was appointed as successor to Karl Mägdefrau as Chair of Systematic Botany and Mycology at the University of Tübingen and from 1974 until his retirement in 2008 he was head of the University's botanic garden, Botanischer Garten der Universität Tübingen. Lichenicolous
A lichenicolous fungus is a parasitic fungus that only lives on lichen as the host. A lichenicolous fungus is not the same as the fungus that is the component of the lichen, which is known as a lichenized fungus. They are most commonly specific to a given fungus as the host, but they also include a wide range of pathogens, saprotrophs, and commensals.
