Agageldi Mammetgeldiyev
Army General Agageldi Mammetgeldiyevich Mammetgeldiyev (Turkmen: Agageldy Mämmetgeldiýewiç Mämmetgeldiýew; Born: September 10, 1946 in Ashgabat) is a Turkmen military officer who served as Minister of Defense of Turkmenistan from 2003 to 2009. He was also a Vice Chairman of the Cabinet Ministers. At the time he served, he was the highest ranking military defense minister in the Commonwealth of Independent States. He is nicknamed the "Grey Cardinal". Biography He was born on 10 September 1946 in Ashgabat. In 1963 he worked in a peasant farm. A year later, he studied at the Turkmen State Medical Institute. Yaylym Yagmyrovich Berdiyev ( tk, Ýaýlym Ýagmyrowiç Berdiýew, Cyrillic: Яйлым Ягмырович Бердиев) is a Turkmen general and politician. He is a former Minister of National Security as well as the former Secretary of the State Security Council of Turkmenistan. He also previously served as the Minister of Defense of Turkmenistan from 2015 to 2018. Biography He was born in the Baharden District of the Turkmen SSR. Gurbanguly Mälikgulyýewiç Berdimuhamedow (born 29 June 1957), also known as Arkadag (Cyrillic: Аркадаг, "protector"), is a Turkmen politician who served as the second president of Turkmenistan from 2006 to 2022. A dentist by profession, Berdimuhamedow served in the government of president Saparmurat Niyazov as the minister of health in 1997 and as the vice president in 2001. He became acting president following Niyazov's death on 21 December 2006 and subsequently won the 2007 presidential election. He faced no meaningful opposition and won by an overwhelming margin with 89% of the vote. In 2012, he was re-elected for a second term with 97% of the vote and he was re-elected again in 2017 with 97.7% of the vote.
