Capital Lights was an American Christian pop rock band from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Formed in 2002 as Aftereight (stylized afterEIGHT), the band changed its name after signing to Tooth & Nail Records in 2008. The group initially disbanded in 2009, but reunited in late 2010 until 2012. The band has produced three full-length studio albums, two EPs, and multiple singles. Their two latest albums have charted on '' Billboard'' in multiple categories. The Revival Of The Fittest EP
The Revival of the Fittest EP is the second and final extended play by the American Christian screamo band Aftereight. It was independently released on September 18, 2007. The EP is no longer available digitally, and is also out of print. The EP served as a bridging release of the band's genre transition from screamo to their newly found pop rock sound. Ultimately, this would lead the band to change their name to Capital Lights the next year, as a sign of their new direction. It is also the release to spark the attention of Tooth & Nail Records, and what eventually led to the band signing with the label. Background Bryson Phillips later told ''Tulsa World'', after the release, that he considered this the band's first professional release, stating that they previously "just burned discs to give away and sell at shows. This Is an Outrage! is the debut studio album by the American Christian pop rock band Capital Lights, with their previous EP being released under the name Aftereight. It was released on July 8, 2008 under Tooth & Nail Records. Critical reception The album garnered mostly very positive reviews from most professional music sites and reviews. Lindsay Wiseman of Jesus Freak Hideout positively said: "Overall, it is an extremely powerful debut and is consistently fun, energetic, and extremely pleasing to the ears. Diversafest
Diversafest (Dfest), Oklahoma's Music Conference and Festival, was an annual live event that showcased independent and emerging artists and hosted educational music industry panels and a tradeshow. Dfest took place the last weekend in July in the historic Blue Dome District of Tulsa, Oklahoma. The music conference and festival had the purpose of promoting and empowering emerging artists from around the United States. By 2008, Dfest had grown to include more than 140 bands performing on over 10 stages in downtown Tulsa and featuring music industry panels, clinics and a tradeshow during the days at the host conference hotel. Brandon Ebel is the founder, president and CEO of Tooth & Nail Records. He founded the label in 1993 in California, United States. The label has since grown to include sub-labels BEC Recordings, Solid State Records and Uprok Records. Ebel has contributed to hundreds of releases the label has put out.
