Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao
Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao (آفتاب احمد خان شېرپاؤ; born 20 August 1944) is a Pakistani politician who is the current chairman of the centre-left Pashtun nationalist Qaumi Watan Party, after previously being a member of the Pakistan Peoples Party. He was a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from November 2002 to May 2018. Sherpao previously served as the Federal Interior Minister of Pakistan. Prior to this assignment he was the Federal Minister for Water and Power, Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas and States & Frontier Regions and Minister for Interprovincial Coordination. Aftab Ali ( bn, আফতাব আলী; 1907–1972) was an early 20th-century Bengali social reformer, politician and entrepreneur. His work is recognised to have helped thousands of British Asian lascars to migrate, settle and find employment in Britain. He was a member of the Bengal Legislative Assembly and National Assembly of Pakistan, and served as the first Minister of Labour for East Pakistan. Early life Ali was born into a Bengali Muslim family from the Kathalkhair village of the Sylhet District in the British Raj's North-East Frontier on 20 January 1907. His father was a merchant on the Sylhet-Calcutta water route, owning a number of boats. At the age of 18, Ali left Sylhet Government School in class 10 moving to Calcutta where he worked alongside Bipin Chandra Pal. Aftab Baloch ( ur, آفتاب بلوچ) (1 April 1953 – 24 January 2022) was a Pakistani cricketer. Career He played in two Tests from 1969 to 1975. A right-handed middle order batsman and capable right arm offbreak bowler, Baloch is best known for being a member of the 400 club. The feat was achieved in a game for Sind at the National Stadium in Karachi during the 1973/74 season. After bowling out their opponents, Baluchistan, for 93, Sind responded with 951 for 7 declared. Captaining the side, Baloch made 428 of those runs. At the time it was the sixth-highest score by a batsman in first-class cricket history and he was the seventh player to pass the 400-run milestone. The final margin, of an innings and 575 runs, made it one of the most one-sided games of all time. Baloch was rewarded with a tour of England but he didn't play a Test. Aftab Gul Khan (Urdu: آفتاب گل خان) (born 31 March 1946) is a former Pakistani cricketer who played in six Test matches from 1969 to 1971. Gul was an opening batsman who represented a number of first-class sides in Pakistan from 1964–65 to 1977–78. His initial selection in the Test side, when England toured Pakistan during 1968-69 amid political turmoil, had less to do with his cricketing abilities than with his position as a student leader, in an attempt to placate the rioters. Gul scored more than 1000 runs in the tour of England in 1971. In the first over of the First Test at Birmingham in that series, he was struck on the head by a ball from Alan Ward and was forced to retire. This injury drew the famous line from Brian Johnston on the BBC the next day: "Gul's all right. The doctor inspected his head this morning and found nothing in it."
