Aftab Ahmed (Indian Politician)
Aftab Ahmed is an Indian politician and the current Deputy Leader of Opposition of Haryana Legislative Assembly. He was first elected as an Member of the Haryana Legislative Assembly in 2009 from Nuh (Vidhan Sabha constituency). In 2019, he was re-elected and nominated as Deputy Leader of the Congress Legislative Party, Haryana. He has also served as Transport Minister, Tourism minister, Printing & Stationery Minister and Vice-President of the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee. Aftab Ahmed (academic)
Aftab Ahmed (31 December 1949 – 26 September 2006) was a Bangladeshi academic. He served as the 5th vice-chancellor of National University of Bangladesh. On 23 September 2006, Ahmed was assassinated at his Dhaka residence. Mofiqul Hasan Tripti, an influential politician of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, was arrested for the crime in August 2018. Early life Ahmed was born at Mirzanagar of Begumganj Upazila in Noakhali District. He passed the SSC and HSC exams in 1966 and 1968 respectively. He stood first class first in BA (honours) and master's in political science from the University of Dhaka in 1971 and 1972 respectively. He earned his PhD from the University of London in 1983. Aftab Ahmed (c. 1934 – 25 December 2013) was a Bangladeshi photojournalist. He served as chief photographer of Bengali newspaper ''The Daily Ittefaq''. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2006 by the Government of Bangladesh. Career Ahmed started his career as photojournalist in ''The Daily Ittefaq'' in 1962. He took photographs during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971. Personal life Ahmed was married to Momtaz begum (died 29 June 2010). They had one son Monowar Ahmed and one daughter Afroz Ahmed. Death On 24 December 2013 Ahmed was found dead at his house in West Rampura region in Dhaka. Aftab Ahmed (date of birth unknown) was a Pakistani cricketer. Primarily a batsman, all of Aftab's matches at first-class level came for Peshawar, during the 1956–57 and 1957–58 seasons of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. He made his debut for the team in December 1956, against Punjab at the Peshawar Club Ground, a match which Peshawar lost by an innings and 169 runs after Fazal Mahmood took 8/21 in the team's first innings. The position in which Aftab batted was irregular; in his first match, he had opened the batting, but in later matches he batted as low as tenth. The team played a single first-class match in the Ayub Trophy in November 1964 against Hyderabad at the National Stadium, Karachi. The team won the toss and batted first, making 253 all out, during which Akhtar Sadiq top–scored with 53. Hyderabad were then dismissed for 255 in their first-innings, with Vakil Tatari claiming the best bowling figures with 4/65. Aftab Ahmed Khan (27 February 1940 — 21 January 2022) was an Indian police officer (IPS)-turned-politician from Mumbai, noted for his encounter killings of gangsters from the Mumbai organized crime syndicates. He is also known as the founder of Anti-terrorism Squad (ATS) in 1990. Early life and background His father A.S. Career Having represented Denmark at Under-19 level, Ahmed was selected for Denmark's squad for the 2011 World Cricket League Division Three in Hong Kong, making his full international debut against Italy.
