Aerotec Uirapuru
The Aerotec A-122 Uirapuru was a Brazilian military trainer aircraft. It was a low-wing monoplane with tricycle undercarriage that accommodated the pilot and instructor side-by-side. It first flew on 2 June 1965. Design and development In October 1967, the Brazilian Air Force ordered 30 aircraft to replace the obsolete Fokker S.11s and S.12s (T-21s and T-22s) that were operating in the Air Force Academy. Later, they ordered another 40, and then 30 more. These were designated T-23. The Bolivian Air Force ordered 36 examples in 1974, which flew until 1997, and in 1975 the Paraguayan Air Force bought eight aircraft to replace the Fokker T-21 (S.11). In 1986, six more were donated by the FAB. Most of them were withdrawn from service in 1992, replaced by the Enaer T-35 Pillán. As of 2009, only one T-23 is in flying conditions. Low-wing Aircraft
A monoplane is a fixed-wing aircraft configuration with a single mainplane, in contrast to a biplane or other types of multiplanes, which have multiple planes. The Galeão 8 FG Guanabara, was a Brazilian low-wing, single-engined experimental airplane intend to be an executive aircraft to the Brazilian Air Force.Taylor 1965, p. 12Pereira 1997, p. 171 Design and development The Guanabara was based on the Fokker S.12 training aircraft, then manufactured at Fokker's factory in Brazil. It was proposed by technicians from the Ministry of Aeronautics. The Lycoming O-320 is a large family of naturally aspirated, air-cooled, four-cylinder, direct-drive engines produced by Lycoming Engines. They are commonly used on light aircraft such as the Cessna 172 and Piper Cherokee. Different variants are rated for 150 or 160 horsepower (112 or 119 kilowatts). As implied by the engine's name, its cylinders are arranged in horizontally opposed configuration and a displacement of 320 cubic inches (5.24 L). Aerotec S/A Indústria Aeronáutica was a Brazilian aircraft manufacturer founded in 1962 with the support of the Department of Science and Aerospace Technology (''Portuguese: Departamento de Ciência e Tecnologia Aeroespacial; DCTA'') in São José dos Campos. History Beginning in the late 1960s, the company produced a two-seat trainer aircraft for the Brazilian Air Force, the Aerotec A.122 Uirapuru. Thirty units were produced for the civilian market. The Uirapuru was also exported to Bolivia and Paraguay. Thereafter, Aerotec produced mainly components for Embraer until 1980. At that time, the Brazilian Air Force showed interest in a performance-enhanced version of the Uirapuru. A prototype with an improved cockpit canopy and enlarged tail unit was built as the A.132 Uirapuru II.
