Adventure Time (album)
''Adventure Time'' is the second album by the rock/ pop trio The Elvis Brothers. The album was released in 1985 on Portrait Records. The basic tracks and first mixes were recorded at Fifth Floor Recorders in Cincinnati, OH, with producer Adrian Belew. The redubbing and remixing were done by George Tutko and John Boylan at Cherokee Studios in Los Angeles. The album was reissued in 1995 by Sony/Recession Records with their debut album '' Movin' Up'', with both albums on a single CD. The Elvis Brothers
The Elvis Brothers were a rock/ pop trio (and sometimes quartet) that got its start in Champaign, Illinois in 1981, and were "staples of midwest clubs and theaters from the early 80s through the early 90s". The members were Rob Elvis (guitar, vocals), Graham Elvis (bass, vocals) and Brad Elvis (drums). The band released two albums with Portrait/Epic Records: '' Movin' Up'' in 1983, and ''Adventure Time'' in 1985. The band lost their record deal when Portrait was closed in 1986. The original trio re-united in 1992 and released an album called ''Now Dig This'' on Recession Records. Portrait Records
Portrait Records was a sister label of Epic Records and later of Columbia Records. Notable artists Cyndi Lauper and Sade signed with Portrait, but their contracts were absorbed by Epic after that incarnation of the label was shuttered. History & Overview Portrait began in 1976 as a sister label of Epic; its initial signings were Joan Baez, Burton Cummings, and the McCrarys. Cummings' "Stand Tall" was the lead-off single. Baez's '' Blowin' Away'' album and the McCrarys' self-titled debut bowed in early 1977. The label design was similar to that of Columbia's singles; design on it was in grey tones, while the logo was handwritten orange with a red outline. Adrian Belew
Robert Steven "Adrian" Belew (born December 23, 1949) is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. A multi-instrumentalist primarily known as a guitarist and singer, he is noted for his unusual and impressionistic approach to his guitar tones (which, rather than relying on standard instrumental tones, often resemble sound effects or noises made by animals and machines). Widely recognized as an "incredibly versatile player", Belew is perhaps best known for his long career as singer and guitarist in the progressive rock group King Crimson between 1981 and 2009. ''Now Dig This'' is the third and last album by the rock/pop trio The Elvis Brothers. Released in 1992 by Recession Records, the album represented a return to the original line-up. The band had undergone some personnel changes and then broken up after being dropped by Portrait Records but they reunited to record this album and then re-issue their first two albums. The album was recorded at the Chicago Music Complex and was produced by Rob and Graham Elvis, with Jay O'Rourke of The Insiders handling the recording. John Boylan (record Producer)
John Patrick Boylan II (born March 21, 1941) is an American record producer and songwriter. Career Boylan grew up in Buffalo, New York. Upon graduating from Bard College, he and his brother Terence Boylan worked with music publisher Charles Koppelman in Tin Pan Alley before moving to Los Angeles in the late 1960s. There they recorded an album as the Appletree Theatre. After a stint as one-third of the group Hamilton Streetcar (with Buzz Clifford of "Baby Sittin' Boogie" fame, and original group member Ralph Plummer – the group was originally named on behalf of former member John Burge, aka Ian Hamilton) which in 1969 recorded a self-titled album for Dot Records (Dot: DLP25939), John then started to develop a career as a producer, working with Ricky Nelson, the Association, the Dillards, Presence and others. Cherokee Studios is a recording studio facility in Hollywood founded in 1972 by members of 1960s pop band The Robbs.
