Eleanor (singer)
Eleanor Academia (born 1964 in San Diego, California), or simply known as Eleanor, is a dance music singer and producer. Career Academia is of Filipino Hawaiian descent, and was born and raised in National City, San Diego. She went on to release her debut album entitled ''Jungle Wave'' in 1987 on Columbia Records. Singer Maurice White also guested on the album. From the LP the 1988 single "Adventure" rose to number one on the ''Billboard'' Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart. Academia also released another album, ''Global Conversations'' on Epic Records. She would later launch her own record label known as Black Swan Records. Academia went on to release on this label her third album, ''Oracle of the Black Swan''. She has also gone on to create, produce and host an indie radio show titled ''The LA Music Pipeline'' where she showcases independent artists. Shep Pettibone
Robert "Shep" Pettibone (born 10 July 1959) is an American record producer, remixer, songwriter and club DJ, one of the most prolific of the 1980s. Career Shep Pettibone surfaced after his work with Arthur Baker on Afrika Bambaataa & the Jazzy 5's "Jazzy Sensation" and as an in-house mix engineer for Prelude Records. During his recording career, he launched innovative "mastermixes" for New York's KISS FM. The popularity of these mixes persuaded Prelude Records to release some of them commercially. Pettibone built his brand through his personal approach to remixing tracks, specially crafted for the dancefloor. Acclaimed by DJs worldwide, he was the go-to man to achieve club and chart success. His prowess at production and mixing led him to work with such artists as Madonna and George Michael in the late 1980s during the height of these artists' popularity. He is best known for his 1975 solo hit single "Swing Your Daddy", as well as singing co-lead to the theme from the TV series ''Good Times''. Career Gilstrap was born November 10, 1946, in Daingerfield, Texas to Jodie and Pearlie Mae (Tolbert) Gilstrap. He joined the U.S. Navy Reserve. He began his career in the music industry when he returned from serving in the Vietnam War. Early groups he worked with include the Doodletown Pipers and The Cultures. D Train was an American duo that had hits on the ''Billboard'' magazine Dance and R&B charts during the first half of the 1980s. Three of their singles also reached the top 30 in the UK Singles Chart. Career The project was a collaborative effort between the band's namesake, James D-Train Williams, who was featured as the lead vocalist and songwriter, and Hubert Eaves III, a keyboardist, who performed the instrumentation on the recordings. Hailing from Brooklyn, New York City, Williams himself was a R&B-dance producer as well. He and Eaves met during high school and began performing together. Rockers Revenge was a studio musical project, assembled by producer Arthur Baker in 1982. The group is most remembered by their 1982 post-disco hit " Walking on Sunshine", which peaked at number 1 on the US Dance Chart and number 4 in the UK. Biography The project was a collaboration of music producer Arthur Baker and featured reggae vocalist Donnie Calvin. Arthur primarily focused on the engineering and mixing while Donnie provided lead vocals. Tina B, who is married to Arthur Baker, contributed with backing vocals, writing and arrangement. Grant's original version was not a hit, but the song was remade three years later by Rockers Revenge, a studio project assembled by producer Arthur Baker, which became the hit version.
