Adur () is a Districts of England#Non-metropolitan district (shire district), local government district of West Sussex, England. It is named after its main River Adur, river and is Historic counties of England, historically part of the English county of Sussex. The council is based in Shoreham-by-Sea and the district has a population of 59,627 according to the United Kingdom Census 2001, 2001 census. It was created on 1 April 1974 by the merger of Southwick, West Sussex, Southwick and Shoreham-by-Sea, Shoreham urban districts and the civil parishes of Coombes, Lancing, West Sussex, Lancing and Sompting from Worthing Rural District. River Adur
The Adur ( or ) is a river in Sussex, England; it gives its name to the Adur district of West Sussex. The river, which is long, was once navigable for large vessels up as far as Steyning, where there was a large Saxon port, but by the 11th century the lower river became silted up and the port moved down to the deeper waters at the mouth of the river in Shoreham-by-Sea. Watercourse The Adur begins as two separate branches, the western Adur and the eastern Adur, which meet west of Henfield. The western Adur rises at Slinfold from where it flows around Coolham and then through Shipley, where it meets Lancing Brook and flows on to West Grinstead and Knepp Castle. The western Adur is tidal as far north as Bines Bridge near Bines Green, south of West Grinstead. The eastern Adur rises at Ditchling Common, in East Sussex, from where it crosses into West Sussex and meets Herrings Stream at Twineham (). Anthony Christopher Bahadur or Anthony Adur (born February 25, 1988) is a Canadian soccer player who played in the Canadian Soccer League, USL Premier Development League, S. League, Thai Premier League, National Premier Soccer League, and the North American Soccer League. Career Adur began playing in the Ontario Soccer League with Cruz Azul Shooters, where he received the OSL Provincial East U21 MVP award in 2006. As a result, he was called up to play in the Canadian Soccer League with Cruz Azul's parent club the Italia Shooters. In his debut season with Italia he won the CSL Championship by scoring the lone goal in a 1–0 victory over the Serbian White Eagles. In 2008, he signed with the Toronto Lynx of the USL Premier Development League. He played a total of 11 matches and recorded one goal.
