Adriano Do Nascimento
Adriano do Nascimento (born 12 January 1970) is an East Timorese politician, teacher and university lecturer. He is a member of the Democratic Party (East Timor), Democratic Party (PD). Between 2007 and 2017, he was a member of the National Parliament (East Timor), National Parliament of East Timor, and from October 2017 to June 2018, he was Minister in the Presidency of the Council of Ministers in the VII Constitutional Government of East Timor. In June 2018, he resumed his membership of the National Parliament. Early life and career Adriano do Nascimento was born in , Cova Lima Municipality, Cova Lima, in the then Portuguese Timor. He studied Education and English at the University of Nusa Cendana ( id, Universitas Nusa Cendana) in Kupang, West Timor, Indonesia, and later at the Eastern Mennonite University in Virginia and the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, USA. Cova Lima Municipality
Cova Lima (, ) is a municipality of East Timor, in the Southwest part of the country. It has a population of 59,455 (Census 2010) and an area of 1,230 km2. The capital of the municipality is Suai, which lies 136 km from Dili, the national capital. Etymology There are two different explanations for the municipality's name. First, it could be derived from ''koba'' (a basket used for ritual acts) and ''lima'', the Tetum word for 'five'. The combination is said to represent either the five mythical daughters of the Liurai (traditional title of a Timorese ruler) of Fohorem Nutetu, or five kingdoms consisting of Fatumea, Dakolo, Lookeu, Sisi and Maudemi. According to a second explanation, the English language name of the municipality is said to be a Portuguese approximation of the words ''kaua lima'' or portmanteau ''Kaualima'', which means 'five crows' in Tetum. 2017 East Timorese Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in East Timor on 22 July 2017. Fretilin narrowly emerged as the largest party in the National Parliament, winning 23 seats to the 22 won by the National Congress for Timorese Reconstruction, which had been the largest party in the outgoing Parliament. The National Congress for Timorese Reconstruction ( pt, Congresso Nacional de Reconstrução de Timor, CNRT) is a political party in East Timor founded by former President Xanana Gusmão in March 2007 in preparation for the 2007 parliamentary election. According to provisional results, the party won 24.10% of the vote in the 2007 election, placing second behind FRETILIN, which won 29%. Mariano Sabino Lopes (born 12 April 1975), also known by his ''nom de guerre'' , is an East Timorese politician and a member of the Democratic Party (PD). He is the more junior of East Timor's two incumbent Deputy Prime Ministers, and also the incumbent Coordinating Minister of Rural Development Affairs, serving since July 2023 in the IX Constitutional Government of East Timor led by Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão. Fernando De Araújo (East Timorese Politician)
Fernando de Araújo, also known as (26 February 1963 – 2 June 2015) was an East Timorese activist and politician. He was a clandestine activist for the independence of East Timor, and then founded the Democratic Party after independence. He was President of the National Parliament of East Timor from 2007 to 2012. He also served as the Acting President for two months in early 2008.
