Adrian Dickey
Adrian Jeremy Dickey (born October 23, 1973) is an American politician and a senator for the state of Iowa for District 44. Personal life Dickey, the son of former longtime Packwood mayor Dave Dickey, was born in Packwood, Iowa in 1973. He resides there with his family. In 2022, a TikTok user published videos saying she had cut ties with her father, a "Republican state senator", for advocating the Iowa Supreme Court to overturn abortion rights in the ''Planned Parenthood v. Reynolds'' (2022) decision, and for voting to pass House File 2416, which banned trans women and girls from female sports. According to the poster, she is Adrian Dickey's daughter, Korynn. In 2023, Dickey was arrested for supposedly blocking a road with his bike, amongst a crowd of already-gathered protesters, which later came to be a misunderstanding in communication with law enforcement, as he was riding in Iowa's annual RAGBRAI. The 44th District of the Iowa Senate is located in southeastern Iowa, and is currently composed of Keokuk, Jefferson, and Van Buren Counties, as well as part of Mahaska and Henry Counties. Iowa's 2nd congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Iowa that covers most of its southeastern part. It includes Davenport, Iowa City, Muscatine, Clinton, Burlington, Ottumwa, Fort Madison, Oskaloosa, Bettendorf, Newton and Pella. Tim Goodwin (Iowa Politician)
Tim Goodwin is an American politician who last served as member of the Iowa Senate from the 44th district. Elected in November 2020, he assumed office on January 11, 2021 until his resignation on January 8, 2023. Career Goodwin began his career in public relations for the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks. He then became a school administrator and coach in Williamsburg, Iowa. He was also the director of administration and development for WW Transport, Inc., a trucking company based in West Burlington, Iowa. Goodwin challenged incumbent Democratic State Representative Dennis Cohoon in 2018. Goodwin's opponent in the Republican primary withdrew and Goodwin won with 74% of the vote. ''The Des Moines Register'' is the daily morning newspaper of Des Moines, Iowa. History Early period The first newspaper in Des Moines was the ''Iowa Star''. In July 1849, Barlow Granger began the paper in an abandoned log cabin by the junction of the Des Moines and Raccoon River. In 1854, ''The Star'' became the ''Iowa Statesman'' which was also a Democratic paper. In 1857, ''The Statesman'' became the ''Iowa State Journal'', which published 3 times per week.
