Adriaan Van Schrieck
Adriaan van Schrieck (Bruges, 26 December 1560 - Ypres, 26 December 1621), lord of Rodorne, was a Flemish office holder and humanist, known for his historical and linguistic work. He is also known by his Latin name, ''Adrianus Schrieckius''. Life Adriaan van Schrieck was born in Bruges. After his earliest education in his native city, he attended the University of Paris to study philosophy and law. There he came into contact with famous people such as the French statesman and Chancellor of the Kingdom of Navarre, Henri de Mesmes, and François Pithou. Upon return to his homeland, he met Gerard Horne, count of Baucigny, and Nicolas de Montmorency, count of Estaires, by whose offices he was appointed bailiff of Cassel, Estaires, La Bassée and Loker. Later he was appointed councillor to the Archdukes Albert VII, Archduke of Austria, Albert and Isabella Clara Eugenia, Isabella. Estaires
Estaires (; vls, Stegers) is a commune in the Nord department of the Hauts-de-France region in northern France. The town gives its name to a type of chicken bred in the area: the Estaires chicken. Geography Estaires is located in French Flanders, in the Lys valley at an altitude of 16 m. The Meteren Becque flows into the Lys at this point. It stands 30 km west of Lille, 17 km from Hazebrouck and 14 km from Armentieres. It is twinned with Wielun in Poland. History The town stands on the site of a Roman Gaul city called ''Minariacum'' which features in the Antonine Itinerary, in the area of the town now known as Pont d'Estaires. Zuiddorpe
Zuiddorpe is a village in the Netherlands, Dutch province of Zeeland. It is a part of the municipality of Terneuzen, and lies about 34 km southeast of Vlissingen. History The village was first mentioned in 1366 or 1367 as Zuutdorp, and means "southern village". South has been added to distinguish from Westdorpe and is relative to Axel, Netherlands, Axel. Zuiddorpe is a road village with a village square. A parish has been known to exist since 1236 which was called "De Moeren" in reference to the peat excavation in the nearby moorlands. The Catholic Assumption of Mary church is a three-aisled church with a tower in the north-western corner. It was built between 1885 and 1886 to replace its 1817 predecessor. The church has a richly decorated pulpit from 1637. Zuiddorpe was home to 702 people in 1840. It was a separate municipality until 1970, when it was merged with Axel (Netherlands), Axel. Erycius Puteanus (4 November 1574 – 17 September 1646) was a humanist and philologist from the Low Countries. Name Erycius Puteanus is a latinization of his name, which was rendered in various ways, including Hendrick van den Putte (Put, Putten), Errijck (Eryck, Eerryck) de Put or Eric van der Putte. This was also Latinized as Ericus Puteanus. He was also known as Henry du Puy.
