Tifinagh
Tifinagh ( Tuareg Berber language: ; Neo-Tifinagh: ; Berber Latin alphabet: ; ) is a script used to write the Berber languages. Tifinagh is descended from the ancient Libyco-Berber alphabet. The traditional Tifinagh, sometimes called Tuareg Tifinagh, is still favored by the Tuareg people of the Sahara desert in southern Algeria, northeastern Mali, northern Niger, and northern Burkina Faso for writing the Tuareg languages. Neo-Tifinagh is an alphabet developed by the Berber Academy by adopting Tuareg Tifinagh for use for Kabyle; it has been since modified for use across North Africa. Tifinagh is one of three major competing Berber orthographies alongside the Berber Latin alphabet and the Arabic alphabet. Adrar, Algeria
Adrar (Berber: ⴰⴷⵔⴰⵔ ''Adrar''; ) is the administrative capital of Adrar Province, the second largest province in Algeria. The commune is sited around an oasis in the Touat region of the Sahara Desert. According to a 2008 census, it has a population of 64,781, up from 43,903 in 1998, with an annual growth rate of 4.0%. Adrar is mainly an agricultural town, characterized by its traditional irrigation system, the '' Foggara''. History Adrar is located in the Touat region, which was historically an important trade region for caravans crossing the Sahara to Sub-Saharan Africa. Around the 17th century, the Adrar area became part of Morocco, remaining so for about three hundred years. The oasis was captured by the French from Moroccan forces in 1900. Adrar Province
Adrar (, ) is a province ('' wilaya'') in southwestern Algeria, named after its capital Adrar. It is the second-largest province, with an area of 254 000 km2, roughly the size of the US state of Wyoming. It had 401.297 inhabitants at the 2008 population census. The provincial capital, named Adrar, serves as the administrative and economic center of the region. Historically, the province's oases—such as Timimoun—have served as waypoints for Saharan caravan routes. Jebel Azao or Adrar Afao, at , is the highest peak in the Tassili n'Ajjer range in southeastern Algeria. The range forms the northwest border of the Chad Basin. Geography The Jebel Azao is a peak in the Adrar massif of the Tassili N'Ajjer, a sandstone plateau to the northeast of the Hoggar Mountains The mountain forms a ridge on the plateau, roughly parallel to the escarpment. The Djurdjura (Berber: ''Adrar n Jerjer','' ) is a mountain range of the Tell Atlas, part of the Atlas Mountain System. It is located in Kabylie, Algeria. Geography The Djurdjura is a massif made up of two differentiated ranges, one in the north with the Haïzer and Akouker subranges and the other in the south. Its highest point, Lalla Khedidja known in Kabylian as ''Tamgut Aâlayen'', has an elevation of and it is located in the southern range. The Adrar (, Berber languages, Berber for "mountain") is a highland natural region, natural and historical region of the Sahara, Sahara Desert in northern Mauritania. The Adrar Region, an administrative division of Mauritania, is named after the traditional region. It is sometimes called Adrar Tamar to distinguish it from other areas called Adrar in the Sahara. Geography The Adrar is an arid plateau, known for its Canyon, gorges, Desert pavement, regs (stony deserts) and Dune, sand dunes. Structurally the Adrar is a low central massif which rises to over above sea level just east of Atar, Mauritania, Atar near the Amojjar Pass on the track to Chinguetti, then loses elevation and becomes subsumed by dunes to the south and east. Adrar () is a large administrative region in Mauritania, named for the Adrar Plateau. The capital is Atar. Other major towns include Choum, Chinguetti and Ouadane. The region borders Western Sahara and the Mauritanian region of Tiris Zemmour to the north, Mali and the Mauritanian region of Hodh Ech Chargui to the east, the Mauritanian regions of Trarza and Tagant to the south and the Mauritanian region of Inchiri to the west.
