Adonis Filer
Adonis Jovon Filer (born July 11, 1993) is a Rwandan-American basketball player who currently plays for APR. He also plays for the Rwanda national basketball team in International competitions. Early life Born and raised in Chicago, Filer attended Mount Carmel High School before transferring to the Bishop Noll Institute in Hammond, Indiana. He later also attended Notre Dame Preparatory School in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. College career Filer committed to the Clemson Tigers. In his rookie season, he averaged 10.0 points and 4.0 rebounds. After two years, he transferred from Clemson to Florida Atlantic. Professional career On September 14, 2017, Filer signed his first professional contract with Cypriot club Apollon Limassol. He was released before playing any official game with the team. Filer then signed a contract for the 2018–19 season, with Beroe of the Bulgarian National Basketball League (NBL). Point Guard
The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the five Basketball positions, positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position. Point guards are expected to run the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time. Above all, the point guard must understand and accept their coach's game plan; in this way, the position can be compared to a quarterback in American football. Armée Patriotique Rwandaise Basketball Club, commonly known simply as APR, is a Rwandan basketball club based in Kigali. Owned and funded by the Ministry of Defence of Rwanda, the team plays in the Rwanda Basketball League (RBL). It has won seven national championships. 2022 BAL Season
The 2022 BAL season, also known as BAL Season 2, was the second season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). The season began on 2 March 2022 and ended with the Finals on 28 May 2022. The group phase was played in the Dakar Arena in Dakar and the Hassan Moustafa Sports Hall in Cairo. The playoffs and finals were played in the BK Arena in Kigali for a second year in a row. Tunisian club US Monastir won the finals to win its first-ever BAL title, after defeating Angolan club Petro de Luanda in the 2022 BAL Finals. As winners, Monastir qualified for the 2023 FIBA Intercontinental Cup. Format On 9 December 2021, the BAL announced a new format for the season, with an expansion of the number of total games to 38. AfroBasket 2021 Qualification
The AfroBasket 2021 qualification was a basketball competition that was played from January 2020 to July 2021, to determine the fifteen FIBA Africa nations who would join the automatically qualified host Rwanda at the FIBA AfroBasket 2021, AfroBasket 2021 final tournament. 2023 BAL Qualification
The qualification for the 2023 BAL season, also known as Road to BAL 2023, was the 3rd edition of the qualifying tournaments for the Basketball Africa League. The tournaments were organised by FIBA Africa and are held from 10 October to 27 November 2022. The format was similar to the previous two seasons, with a group phase and an elite 16 being held. Association Sportive Salé ( ar, جمعية سلا), commonly known as AS Salé, is a Moroccan basketball club from Salé. The club competes in the Division Excellence and the Basketball Africa League (BAL).
