Adnan Saleem
Adnan Saleem (born 18 December 1976) is an English cricketer. Saleem is a left-handed batsman who bowled left-arm Fast. He was born in Islamabad. Saleem made his debut for Buckinghamshire in the 2002 MCCA Knockout Trophy against the Northamptonshire Cricket Board. Saleem played Minor counties cricket for Buckinghamshire from 2002 to 2006, which included nine Minor Counties Championship matches and six MCCA Knockout Trophy matches. In 2002, he made his List A debut against Sussex in the Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy. He played four further List A matches for Buckinghamshire, the last coming against Lancashire in 2005. In his five List A matches, he took 5 wickets at a bowling average of 32.20, with best figures of 3/24. From 1996 to 1998, Saleem played mainly Second XI cricket for the Surrey County Cricket Club and was a consistent performer with over 75 wickets and an ability to strike at any time. Lancashire County Cricket Club represents the historic county of Lancashire in English cricket. The club has held first-class status since it was founded in 1864. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. In cricket, a player's bowling average is the number of runs they have conceded per wicket taken. The lower the bowling average is, the better the bowler is performing. It is one of a number of statistics used to compare bowlers, commonly used alongside the economy rate and the strike rate to judge the overall performance of a bowler. When a bowler has taken only a small number of wickets, their bowling average can be artificially high or low, and unstable, with further wickets taken or runs conceded resulting in large changes to their bowling average. Due to this, qualification restrictions are generally applied when determining which players have the best bowling averages. 2005 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy
The 2005 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy was the 4th Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy, an English county cricket tournament, held between 3 May and 3 September 2005. The competition was contested by all 18 first-class counties, as well as 10 minor counties and the national teams of Scotland, Ireland, the Netherlands and Denmark, to make up a full 32-team tournament. The final was won by the Hampshire Hawks, who beat the Warwickshire Bears by 18 runs at Lord's on 3 September 2005. This would be the final year that the competition used a purely knockout format, and was also the final year to date in which the minor counties also participated. The 2002 Cheltenham and Gloucester Trophy was an English limited overs county cricket tournament which was held between 29 August 2001 and 31 August 2002. It was the second Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy, following its change of name from the NatWest Trophy. The tournament was won by Yorkshire who defeated Somerset by 6 wickets in the final at Lord's.
