Admiral T
Admiral T, whose real name is Christy Campbell, is a French singer of reggae- dancehall music. He is one of the most popular and successful Guadeloupean singers. He is also a designer and the creator of the clothing trademark WOK LINE. Biography Born in 1981 on the French island of Guadeloupe, he was one of two children. He also has roots in the nearby island of Dominica. At the age of 6, he joined the dancehall group Karukera Sound System; he left the group in 1992 to start a solo career; releasing his first album ''Mozaïk Kréyòl''. During the sneak preview of Sean Paul at Bercy Stadium in 2004, Admiral T outperformed himself and drew much attention. Universal Music Group's delegates who attended this concert decided to sign Admiral T and re-released his album on Universal Records, featuring artists like Wyclef Jean or French rapper Rohff. Les Abymes
Les Abymes () is the most populous commune in the French overseas region and department of Guadeloupe, in the Lesser Antilles. It is located on the west side of the island of Grande-Terre, and is part of the largest metropolitan area of Guadeloupe, which also covers Pointe-à-Pitre. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Abymiens'' or ''Abymiennes''. West Caribbean Airways Flight 708 was a West Caribbean Airways charter flight that crashed in northwest Venezuela in the early hours of Tuesday, 16 August 2005, killing all 160 passengers and crew on board. The plane, a McDonnell Douglas MD-80, McDonnell Douglas MD-82, registration HK-4374X, was en route from Tocumen International Airport (PTY) in Panama City, Panama, to Martinique Aimé Césaire International Airport (FDF) in Fort-de-France, Martinique, France. While flying at , the aircraft's speed gradually decreased until it entered an aerodynamic stall. The crew, probably under the mistaken belief that the aircraft had suffered a double engine flame-out, did not take the necessary actions to recover from the stall. Harry Roselmack (born 20 March 1973 in Tours) is a French radio and TV journalist of Martiniquan descent. Career Harry Roselmack graduated with degrees in History ( DEUG) and Journalism (DUT). He began to work for a local radio station, during this period. Then, he wrote some sports articles for a regional news paper La Nouvelle République du Centre-Ouest. Roselmack worked with Radio France in 2000 (France Bleu, France Info) before joining Canal+. In 2006, he was appointed official summer replacement for Patrick Poivre d'Arvor, the evening news anchorman, by TF1. This decision triggered a number of moves between the major networks. Jocelyne Béroard
Jocelyne Béroard (born 12 September 1954) is a Martinican singer and songwriter. She is one of the lead singers of the Zouk and Compas band Kassav'. As a solo artist, she helped create zouk Beton, a music genre started by Kassav'. The main members are from Guadeloupe and Martinique. Biography Béroard was born in Fort-de-France, Martinique, and studied in France, attending the National School of Fine Arts in Paris, before beginning to work with Caribbean artistes as a background singer in 1980. She has served as a lead singer of Kassav' since 1983. She has also recorded several albums as a solo artist. In 1986, she won a Gold Disc for her album ''Siwo'' (the all-time biggest seller for an album by a female in the West Indies). Seydou Koné (; born January 1, 1953 in Dimbokro), better known by his stage name Alpha Blondy, is an Ivorian reggae singer and international recording artist. Many of his songs are politically and socially motivated, and are mainly sung in his native language Dyula, French and English, though he occasionally uses other languages, for example, Arabic or Hebrew. Patrick Saint-Éloi (20 October 1958 – 18 September 2010) was a Guadeloupean singer and songwriter. He was one of the lead singers of the Zouk and Compas band Kassav' Kassav' is a French Caribbean band formed in Guadeloupe in 1979. Médine Zaouiche (; born 24 February 1983 in Le Havre), better known by his stage name Médine, is a French rapper of Algerian descent. He has been a part of the hip hop collective La Boussole since 1996. The World Creole Music Festival (WCMF) is an annual three-day music festival hosted on the island of Dominica during the final weekend in October, as a conclusion to Creole heritage month.
