Aditya Mehta
Aditya Mehta (born 31 October 1985 in Mumbai, India) is an Indian former professional snooker player. He participated on the World Snooker Tour for the 2007–08 season, and between 2011 and 2018. He reached a highest world ranking of 49. Mehta participated in the final of ranking event for the first time at the 2013 Indian Open where he played Ding Junhui, but lost 0–5. Mehta has several medals at the Asian and World Games. He won the gold at the men's event at the 2013 World Games, and the team event at the 2009 Asian Games. Mehta compiled a total of 41 century breaks whilst on tour, the highest of which was at the 2014 Paul Hunter Classic where he made his first ever maximum break in competition. 2017 Paul Hunter Classic
The 2017 Paul Hunter Classic was a professional ranking snooker tournament that took place in August 2017 at the Stadthalle in Fürth, Germany. It was the third ranking event of the 2017/2018 season. The tournament is named in honour of former snooker professional, Paul Hunter. Mark Selby was the defending champion, but he lost 1–4 to Michael White in the fourth round. White went on to beat Shaun Murphy 4–2 in the final, capturing his second world ranking title. World Snooker Tour
The World Snooker Tour (WST) is the main professional snooker tour, consisting of approximately 128 players competing on a circuit of up to 28 tournaments each season. The World Snooker Tour is administered by World Snooker Ltd, the commercial arm of professional snooker, which introduced the World Snooker Tour name, logo, and revised website as part of a 2020 rebranding. The principal stakeholder in World Snooker Ltd is Matchroom Sport, which owns 51 percent of the company; the sport's governing body, the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA), owns 26 percent. 2010 Asian Games
The 2010 Asian Games (), officially known as the XVI Asian Games () and also known as Guangzhou 2010 (), was a regional multi-sport event celebrated from November 12 to November 27, 2010 in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China, although several events commenced earlier on November 7, 2010. It was the second time China had hosted the Asian Games, with the first one being Asian Games 1990 hosted in Beijing. 2011–12 Snooker Season
The 2011–12 snooker season was a series of snooker tournaments played between 1 June 2011 and 7 May 2012. The Brazil Masters became the first professional event held in South America, and the Australian Goldfields Open the first ranking event in Australia. The World Cup was held again after 1996. At the end of the season Ronnie O'Sullivan was named the ''World Snooker Player of the Year'' and the ''Snooker Writers Player of the Year'', Judd Trump the ''Fans Player of the Year'' and Luca Brecel the ''Rookie of the Year''. Stuart Bingham received the "Performance of the Year" for winning his first ranking event, the Australian Goldfields Open. Yasin Merchant
Yasin Merchant, born 17 December 1966 is India's second professional snooker player. The late Omprakesh Agrawal was the first. Merchant won the National Snooker championships on 3 occasions, in 2001, 2000 and 1991He was honoured by Khar Gymkhana which has named its snooker hall after him as Yasin Merchant Snooker Hall. Challenge Tour (snooker)
The Q Tour is a series of snooker tournaments, immediately below the level of the World Snooker Main Tour. The tour originally ran between the 1994–95 season and the 2004–05 season as professional non-ranking events. Due to the large numbers of players on tour at that time the new WPBSA Minor Tour was formed so players lower down the rankings had tournaments to play in. It was subsequently rebranded the UK Tour and then the Challenge Tour. It was revived for the 2018–19 season, before being rebranded as the Q Tour for the 2021–22 season. Maximum Break
A maximum break (also known as a maximum, a 147, or orally, a one-four-seven) is the highest possible in a single of snooker. A player compiles a maximum break by potting all 15 with 15 for 120 points, followed by all six for a further 27 points. Compiling a maximum break is regarded as a particularly significant achievement in the game of snooker, and may be compared to a nine-dart finish in darts or a 300 game in ten-pin bowling. The first officially recognised maximum break was made by Joe Davis in a 1955 exhibition match in London. The European Tour 2014/2015 – Event 2 (also known as the 2014 Arcaden Paul Hunter Classic) was a professional minor-ranking snooker tournament that took place between 20 and 24 August 2014 in Fürth, Germany. Century Break
In snooker, a century break (also century, sometimes called a ton) is a of 100 points or more, compiled in one to the table. A century break requires potting at least 25 consecutive balls, and the ability to score centuries is regarded as a mark of the highest skill in snooker. Ronnie O'Sullivan has described a player's first century break as the "ultimate milestone for any snooker player". In the 2013–14 season, Neil Robertson became the first player to compile 100 century breaks in a single season—a number that only some 60 other players have surpassed throughout their entire careers—and ended the season with 103 centuries, a record number for one season.
