Adelaide Croatia Raiders SC, formerly known as Adelaide Raiders and historically Adelaide Croatia, is a semi-professional soccer club based in Adelaide, South Australia, they currently plays in the South Australian State League 1. It is a Croatian Australian-backed club and its home ground is the Croatian Sports Centre in Gepps Cross, a northern suburb of Adelaide. History The Adelaide Croatia Soccer Club was founded in 1952 by a group of Croatian migrants who named the club after their homeland. The group included Fahrudin Cerić, the then President, Cvjetko Milanović and Drago Pišpek. The club affiliated with the SASFA and played in the metropolitan division for five years. Phil Stubbins
Phil Stubbins is a former football player and now manager who is the head coach oAdelaide University Soccer Clubin the National Premier Leagues competition in South Australia. Early years Stubbins is from Hull, England, migrating to Australia in 1988. After schoolboy beginnings with his hometown club Hull City AFC, Stubbins also played top flight Football in Australia for both Heidelberg United and South Melbourne FC, as well as fulfilling further playing opportunities within South East Asia. Leaving Australian football altogether for a period in 1993, he pursued interests onto the Australasian PGA Golf Tour. His golfing ambitions failed however, lured back to football as player/manager of Westvale Olympic FC in 1994. Caroline Springs George Cross Football Club is an Australian soccer club based in Fraser Rise, a north-western suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, and plays in State League Division 1, the fourth tier of football in Victoria. George Cross play at the City Vista Recreation Reserve, following a move from Chaplin Reserve in 2019, where the club spent 38 seasons. The Australian-Croatian Soccer Tournament is a tournament run by the Croatian Soccer Federation of Australia and New Zealand, an organisation founded in 1974. The inspiration for the tournament came from the successful Croatian-North American Soccer Tournament founded in 1964. The Australian tournament kicked off in 1974 with an event staged in Melbourne, Australia where six soccer clubs participated at Melbourne Croatia's ground Montgomery Park in Essendon. The tournament was born. Although only six clubs participated, it was the beginning, a beginning spawned from Croatia Melbourne's expulsion from the Victorian Soccer Federation, with the clubs leadership including Tony Vrzina and Josip Solic together with Mirko Furjanic the now Honorary President of the Australian Croatian Soccer Tournament being the forerunners in getting the tournament up and going. List Of Croatian Football Clubs In Australia
The Croatian community of Australia has played an important part in the history of Australian soccer. Countless clubs have been formed over the years in every state and territory, except for the Northern Territory. At present there are 31 active Croatian soccer clubs operating in Australia. The first Croatian soccer/sporting club founded in Australia was HSNK Zora (no longer in existence), which was founded in 1931. Jagajeet Shrestha ( ne, जगजीत श्रेष्ठ) is a Nepali footballer who last played for Preston Lions in State League 1 as a midfielder. He was called to Nepali internationals at the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and most recently for the 2019 Asian Cup Qualifiers in late 2017. Matthew Mullen (born 24 February 1989, in Adelaide) is an Australian footballer who plays for Campbelltown City in the National Premier Leagues. Matthew is the cousin of Daniel Mullen currently plays for Campbelltown City and the nephew of Joe Mullen, a former Socceroo. Club career Before joining Adelaide United for the A-League 2007-08 season, Mullen played for the Para Hills Knights in the South Australian Premier League and with the Australian Institute of Sport. He made two substitute appearances over his one-year contract with Adelaide and was signed as a youth player for the A-League 2008-09 season. Joel William Porter (born 25 December 1978) is an Australian football (soccer) player. Club career Australia Before joining Hartlepool United, Porter had previously played for Croydon Kings, West Adelaide, Melbourne Knights FC and Sydney Olympic. During his final season at Sydney Olympic Porter managed to score 6 goals in 19 starts, having played many of those matches as a midfielder. A-League Men (known as the Isuzu UTE A-League for sponsorship reasons) is the highest-level professional men's soccer league in Australia and New Zealand.
