Jane Addams
Laura Jane Addams (September 6, 1860 May 21, 1935) was an American settlement activist, reformer, social worker, sociologist, public administrator, and author. She was an important leader in the history of social work and women's suffrage in the United States. Addams co-founded Chicago's Hull House, one of America's most famous settlement houses, providing extensive social services to poor, largely immigrant families. William Addams (April 11, 1777 – May 30, 1858) was an American politician who served as a Pennsylvania State Representative and United States Congressman, serving two terms in the U.S. House from 1825 to 1829.
