Adam Summerfield
Adam Summerfield (born 30 August 1990 in Whitehaven, England) is an English professional ice hockey goaltender who played for the Manchester Phoenix in the EPL. Summerfield played at Under-16 level with the Flintshire Flames, the junior team of the Flintshire Freeze. This led to his selection for the Under-18 squad of the Manchester Phoenix following trials at the Altrincham Ice Dome. Summerfield was promoted to the Elite League squad, replacing Aran Fox and Summerfield made his short debut coming on to replace Scott Fankhouser in a 5-2 loss for the Phoenix in Yorkshire against the Sheffield Steelers The Sheffield Steelers are a professional ice hockey team located in Sheffield, England. Goaltender
In ice hockey, the goaltender (commonly referred to as the goalie) is the player responsible for preventing the hockey puck from entering their team's net, thus preventing the opposing team from scoring. English Premier Ice Hockey League
The English Premier Ice Hockey League (EPIHL) was an ice hockey league of 10 teams, all of which were based in England. Headquartered in Blackpool, the EPIHL was one of two professional ice hockey leagues in the United Kingdom (the other being the Elite Ice Hockey League). A total of 27 teams played in the league at one time or another. Swindon Wildcats were the only team to have consistently featured in the EPIHL from its inaugural season in 1997-98. Manchester Phoenix
Manchester Phoenix was a semi professional ice hockey team from Greater Manchester, England. The club was formed in 2003 as a result of the efforts of supporters group ''Friends of Manchester Ice Hockey'' to bring top-level ice hockey back to Manchester after Manchester Storm folded in 2002. The Phoenix team was a founder member of the Elite Ice Hockey League upon its formation in 2003, playing in the 17,500 capacity Manchester Arena. The cost of using such a large facility proved financially untenable, and Phoenix suspended playing operations in 2004 pending the construction of a smaller purpose built ice facility. Construction of the Altrincham Ice Dome commenced in 2006, and the club returned to the Elite League for the 2006–07 season. Whitehaven
Whitehaven is a town and port on the English north west coast and near to the Lake District National Park in Cumbria, England. Historically in Cumberland, it lies by road south-west of Carlisle and to the north of Barrow-in-Furness. Aran Fox
Aran Fox (born 23 December 1988) is an English professional ice hockey goaltender, currently without a club after leaving for personal reasons the Manchester Phoenix of the EIHL. He had been the first player to rise up through the junior ranks of the Phoenix organisation to the EIHL squad. Scott Fankhouser
Scott A. Fankhouser (born July 1, 1975) is an American former professional ice hockey goaltender. He played 23 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Atlanta Thrashers between 1999 and 2001. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1999 to 2009, was spent in various minor leagues and with teams in Europe. After retiring from playing he served as an Assistant Coach for the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL, and coached the Evansville Thunderbolts of the North American 3 Hockey League for a single season. He is currently the assistant manager of Swonder Ice Arena in Evansville Indiana. Playing career Fankhouser began his career playing at NCAA level with the University of Massachusetts Lowell. He was employed mainly as a back-up goaltender in his first three years, managing just 38 appearances in three terms. The Sheffield Steelers are a professional ice hockey team located in Sheffield, England. They were formed in 1991 (see 1991 in sport) and play their home games at the Utilita Arena. They are currently a member of the Elite Ice Hockey League. The club's main (title) sponsor is Sheffield Window Centre.
