Adam Mednick
Adam Mednick (born 9 September 1966) is a Swedish professional golfer. Early life Mednick was born in Bethesda, Maryland in the United States to an American father and a Swedish mother, and moved to Sweden when he was eight years old. His great-grandparents emigrated from Kiev in the Ukraine, and the authorities in the United States changed their family name from Mednikov to Mednick. Amateur career Mednick had a successful amateur career, representing Gävle Golf Club, situated 180 kilometres north of Stockholm, Sweden, in the same player generation as club mates, European Tour winner to be, Peter Hedblom and 1988 Amateur Championship winner Cristian Härdin. When Härdin became the first Swede to play in The Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club in April 1989, Mednick caddied for him. Bethesda, Maryland
Bethesda () is an unincorporated, census-designated place in southern Montgomery County, Maryland. It is located just northwest of Washington, D.C. Challenge Tour
The Challenge Tour is the second-tier men's professional golf tour in Europe. It is operated by the PGA European Tour and, as with on the main European Tour and the European Senior Tour, some of the events are played outside Europe. History The tour was introduced in 1986 and was initially called the ''Satellite Tour''. The Order of Merit was introduced in 1989, with the top five players on it winning membership of the European Tour for the following season. The following year the tour was renamed the Challenge Tour. The Swedish Match Play Championship is a golf tournament played since 1904, held for both men and women. It is the oldest and most traditional golf tournament in Sweden. The name SM is shortening in Swedish language for "Svenska Mästerskapet" (the Swedish Championship). The Swedish PGA Championship for men is a golf tournament played annually in Sweden since 1970. It has been an event on the Swedish Golf Tour schedule since 1984 and the Nordic Golf League since 1999. History From its beginning in 1970, it was a championship for members of the PGA of Sweden. Swedish Golf Tour
The Swedish Golf Tour (currently known as the MoreGolf Mastercard Tour for sponsorship reasons), is a developmental professional golf formerly operated by Svenska Golftourerna AB, owned equally by the Swedish Golf Federation and the PGA of Sweden, since 2018 operated by the Swedish Golf Federation. The tour is designed to help Swedish golfers to reach the standard of play needed to qualify for the European Tour or the Challenge Tour. The events on the SGT are included in the Nordic Golf League, which is one of four European Tour-recognised third-tier tours, and is run in collaboration by the national golf associations of Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden. 1988 Eisenhower Trophy
The 1988 Eisenhower Trophy took place 15 to 18 September at the Ullna Golf Club near Stockholm, Sweden. It was the 16th World Amateur Team Championship for the Eisenhower Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 39 four-man teams. The best three scores for each round counted towards the team total. The combined team of Great Britain and Ireland won the Eisenhower Trophy for the third time, finishing five strokes ahead of the silver medalists, United States. Australia took the bronze medal, a further eight strokes behind with Sweden finishing fourth. Per-Ulrik Johansson (born 6 December 1966) is a Swedish professional golfer, who won six times on the European Tour and played in two winning European Ryder Cup teams. Early life Johansson grew up in Västervik in Småland, Sweden, and was a promising ice hockey player at 14 years of age, when he decided to give priority to golf training instead.
