Adam Gottlob Von Krogh
Adam Gottlob von Krogh (16 May 1768 – 17 January 1839) was a Danish military officer, and the son of Major General Caspar Herman von Krogh (b. 1 December 1725 - d. 1802) and his wife Christiane Ulrica née Lerche (1 November 1730 – 21 August 1803, in Eidsvoll). He was married to his cousin Magdalene (née von Krogh) (13 June 1775 – 19 December 1847) Daughter of the following titular Privy Councilor Frederick Ferdinand von Krogh (d. 1829). Military career At age 12, he was sent to study at the Søakademiet in Copenhagen, receiving an appointment as Ensign to the Crown Prince's Regiment in 1786. From 1788, he was Sekondlieutenant in the Royal Guard on foot. In 1790, he went to Lindholm to serve as page chamber of the Crown Prince at Christiansborg Palace. The Order of the Dannebrog ( da, Dannebrogordenen) is a Danish order of chivalry instituted in 1671 by Christian V. Until 1808, membership in the order was limited to fifty members of noble or royal rank, who formed a single class known as ''White Knights'' to distinguish them from the ''Blue Knights'' who were members of the Order of the Elephant. In 1808, the Order was reformed and divided into four classes. The ''Grand Commander'' class is reserved to persons of princely origin. It is awarded only to royalty with close family ties with the Danish Royal House. The statute of the Order was amended in 1951 by a Royal Ordinance so that both men and women could be members of the Order. Marienlyst Castle (german: Marienlyst Slot) is a palatial residence located in Helsingør, Denmark. It was named after King Frederik V of Denmark's second wife, Juliana Maria, the queen consort of Denmark and Norway. The building formerly served as a royal pavilion of Kronborg Castle and was mostly used as a venue for pleasure and hunting.
