Ad Snijders
Ad Snijders was born in Eindhoven in 1929. He was a painter, a collagist and a social activist. Education Snijders started drawing at the age of twelve and had his first solo exhibition when he was twenty years old, catching the attention of the press. After two months in the School of Applied Arts in Eindhoven, he left and went on working as an autodidact artist. In 1961 and 1962 the French Government prized Snijders with a grant, which led him to study in La Grande Chaumière Paris. Work His art went ahead of the prevailing movements; he created CoBrA Art before encountering CoBrA works, advanced Pop Art and went even ahead of the return to oil painting in the eighties. As a painter, he first executed expressionistic canvases flooded with drippings (until 1965), then he experimented with drawing (1977), watercolour, gouache, oil and acrylic painting (1976–1988). Expressionism is a modernist movement, initially in poetry and painting, originating in Northern Europe around the beginning of the 20th century. Modern Art
Modern art includes artistic work produced during the period extending roughly from the 1860s to the 1970s, and denotes the styles and philosophies of the art produced during that era. Johan Lennarts
Johan Lennarts (1932–1991-10-06) was a Dutch artist. Johan Lennarts was born on 18 December 1932 in Strijp, Eindhoven, the youngest one of a family with five children. He used to paint as a child and even won the consolation prize in a contest for the school, but later on he gave up the art creation. Lennarts survived the Second World War and in 1945 he attended the Beekvliet seminary in Sint Michielsgestel to become a monk. In 1948 he attended thJoris Collegein Eindhoven and four years later he started to draw again during his final year at the HBS (Former Dutch High School), receiving already in 1959 a grant from the French government. Although he enrolled first at the Royal Academy of the Arts in den Bosch and after a short period of time he transferred to the Art Academy in Tillburg he can be considered a self-taught artist. JCJ Vanderheyden
Jacobus Cornelis Johannes "Jacques" van der Heyden (professional name JCJ Vanderheyden) (23 June 1928 – 27 February 2012) was a Dutch painter and photographer. Life and work JCJ Vanderheyden was born in 1928 in 's-Hertogenbosch. He studied from 1946 to 1956 at the Academy of Art and Design St. Joost in 's-Hertogenbosch and painting at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht. Van der Heyden was a guest lecturer repeatedly and taught from 1987 at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. Between 1964 and 1975 Vanderheyden experimented with film, new media, computer graphics, sound equipment, breathing exercises, photography and printing technology. Lukas Smits
Lukas Smits (born 23 May 1935 in Ravenswaaij) is a Dutch painter. Lukas Smits was born in Ravenswaaij (Buren) and studied both at the Academy of Art and Design in Den Bosch and at the Jan van Eyck-Academy in Maastricht. In 1959 he received the Royal Subsidy for Painting, which was followed by the City of Maastricht Prize (1962), another Royal Subsidy for Painting (1962) and a travel grant from the French government (1964). Smits travelled to Spain, Italy (regularly), France, Mexico, the United States and Indonesia to complete his studies. He specialised as painter, collagist, draftsman, designer and sculptor.
