''Action Jackson: Original Soundtrack Album'' is the official soundtrack album for the 1988 film '' Action Jackson'' starring Carl Weathers, Vanity, Craig T. Nelson, and Sharon Stone. The soundtrack album was produced by Richard Perry, Jeff Lorber, Stevie Salas, as well as Jesse Johnson and Bernadette Cooper. Vanity (singer)
Denise Katrina Matthews (January 4, 1959 – February 15, 2016), known professionally as Vanity, was a Canadian singer, model, and actress. Known for her image as a sex symbol in the 1980s, she became an evangelist and renounced her career as Vanity in the 1990s. Vanity was the lead singer of the female trio Vanity 6, which was created by the musician Prince. Known for their 1982 hit song " Nasty Girl", they disbanded in 1983, when she decided to embark on a solo career. Herbie Hancock
Herbert Jeffrey Hancock (born April 12, 1940) is an American jazz pianist, keyboardist, bandleader, and composer. Hancock started his career with trumpeter Donald Byrd's group. He shortly thereafter joined the Miles Davis Quintet, where he helped to redefine the role of a jazz rhythm section and was one of the primary architects of the post-bop sound. In the 1970s, Hancock experimented with jazz fusion, funk, and electro styles, utilizing a wide array of synthesizers and electronics. It was during this period that he released perhaps his best-known and most influential album, ''Head Hunters''. Skyy (also known as New York Skyy) was an American R&B/ funk/ disco band based in New York City. They are perhaps best known for their 1981 hit, " Call Me", as well as their 1989 "comeback" hits, " Start of a Romance" and " Real Love". Career Skyy was formed in Brooklyn, New York in 1977. The original line-up consisted of sisters Denise, Delores, and Bonny Dunning as vocalists, with guitarists Solomon Roberts and Anibal Anthony Sierra, keyboardist Larry Greenberg, bassist Gerald Lebon, and drummer Tommy McConnell. In 1978 the band was signed to Salsoul Records, releasing their debut album the following year. Ulysses Kae Williams (February 4, 1921 – December 29, 1987) was an American DJ, record label owner and producer, known as one of the earliest local deejays to play the blues. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, he started in radio around 1945 and worked for numerous area stations, including WSSJ, WDAS, WHAT (AM), and WCAM. Anthony Jackson (June 23, 1952) is an American bassist. Described as "one of the masters of the instrument", he has performed as a session musician and live artist. He is also credited with the development of the modern extended-range bass, six-string bass, which he refers to as a contrabass guitar. David Stephen Koz (born March 27, 1963) is an American smooth jazz saxophonist, composer, record producer, and radio personality based in California. Early life Dave Koz was born in Encino, California, to Jewish parents: Norman, a dermatologist and Audrey, a pharmacist. Dave has a brother, Jeff, who is also a musician, and a sister, Roberta. Although he is Jewish, Koz plays both Christmas and occasional Hanukkah songs at his concerts. He attended William Howard Taft High School in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California, performing on saxophone as a member of the school jazz band.
