Across The Divide
''Across the Divide'' is a 1921 American silent Western film directed by John Holloway and starring Rex Ballard, Rosemary Theby and Ralph McCullough. Plot Left by his dying mother in the care of Buck (Rex Ballard), Wallace Layson (Ralph McCullough) has no knowledge of his real identity. Wallace is to inherit a ranch on his 21st birthday. His father returns and induces Rosa (Rosemary Theby), a dancehall girl, to marry Wallace in a plot to cheat him out of his inheritance. But Wallace is in love with Helen (Dorothy Manners). Buck tells Wallace that the real heir has died and persuades him to pose as the heir, which foils the plans of his father and secures a home for Wallace and Helen. Buck reveals the Wallace's true identity and leaves without revealing that he is the Wallace's half brother. Gilbert Clayton (actor)
Brigadier-General Sir Gilbert Falkingham Clayton (6 April 1875 – 11 September 1929) was a British Army intelligence officer and colonial administrator, who worked in several countries in the Middle East in the early 20th century. In Egypt, during World War I as an intelligence officer, he supervised those who worked to start the Arab Revolt. In Palestine, Arabia and Mesopotamia, in the 1920s as a colonial administrator, he helped negotiate the borders of the countries that later became Israel, Jordan, Syria, Saudi Arabia and Iraq. Early life Born in Ryde, Isle of Wight, Clayton was the eldest son of Lt. Col. William Lewis Nicholl Clayton, and his wife, Maria Martha Pilkington. Rosemary Theby
Rosemary Theresa Theby (born Rose Masing, April 8, 1892 – November 10, 1973) was an American film actress. She appeared in some 250 films between 1911 and 1940. Early life and career The daughter of George and Katherine Masing, Theby was born in St. Louis, Missouri. She studied at the Convent of St. Alphonsus in St. Louis and at Sargent's School in New York City. A contemporary newspaper account described her as being of "medium-height, well proportioned, with regular features and dark hair". Theby began working with Vitagraph studios in 1910. Her first film experience came in that company's production of ''The Wager''. By 1915, she was a star for the Universal film company. During World War I Theby took care of a refugee from Lithuania. After being educated and cared for by Theby, the young woman became her maid during an acute shortage of maids in Hollywood, in 1920.
