Acoustic (Bayside EP)
''Acoustic'' is an EP by American rock band Bayside, released on February 28, 2006. The release was in memory of John "Beatz" Holohan, the band's drummer who was killed when the band's tour bus crashed on October 31, 2005. By April 2006, the EP had sold over 13,000 copies. By August 2008, the EP had sold 37,000 copies. CD The CD includes seven studio-recorded acoustic songs (five of which had been previously released non-acoustically on past albums, and two of which were new), two previously unreleased non-acoustic songs (one of which was an Elliott Smith cover), and one live acoustic song. The song "Winter", one of the new acoustic songs, was specifically dedicated to Holohan, and the song "Megan", the other new acoustic song, is a cover of a Smoking Popes song and features guest vocals from the Smoking Popes' lead singer, Josh Caterer. Bayside (band)
Bayside is an American punk rock band from the Bayside, Queens neighborhood of New York City, formed in 2000 by lead vocalist Anthony Raneri. The group also consists of lead guitarist Jack O'Shea, bassist Nick Ghanbarian, and drummer Chris Guglielmo. Since their formation, the group has released eight full-length albums, with their debut, '' Sirens and Condolences'', in 2004, and the release of 2005's follow-up, '' Bayside'', launching the band into mainstream success. Josh Caterer
Josh Caterer (born April 12, 1972) is an American, Chicago-area musician, best known as the lead singer, lead guitarist, and principal songwriter of pop-punk band Smoking Popes, which he founded in 1991 with his older brother Matt and younger brother Eli. Josh has also written and recorded Christian and gospel music as a solo artist and with the pop-punk band Duvall. In 2015, he founded the blues band Jackson Mud Band, which has released one full-length album called "Stranger Blues". Smoking Popes is an American pop punk band from the northwest suburbs of Chicago. They are composed of brothers Matt Caterer (bass), Josh Caterer (lead vocals/guitar) and Eli Caterer (guitar/backing vocals) and Mike Felumlee (drums). History Early history In 1990, the Caterer brothers formed a punk trio called Speedstick with Josh on vocals/guitar, Eli on bass, and Matt on drums. They played one gig in a friend's basement, after which the Caterer parents decided that Eli, then a sophomore in high school, would have to quit the band until after he graduated, so Matt switched to bass and Dave Martens joined on drums. Elliott Smith
Steven Paul Smith (August 6, 1969 – October 21, 2003), known professionally as Elliott Smith, was an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Smith was born in Omaha, Nebraska, raised primarily in Texas, and lived much of his life in Portland, Oregon, where he gained popularity. Smith's primary instrument was the guitar, though he also played piano, clarinet, bass guitar, drums, and harmonica.
